im After a racing cockpit and g25/g27.
I know i could buy a new one but at $500 for just the cockpit its a bit overboard.

most people lately seem to be heading the obutto route, they occasionally come up second hand but not that often as once people have made the investment they tend to keep hold of them for awhile.
Best bet would be to look at building something yourself or tracking down someone to build it for you, possibly hunt down a design you like and approach an engineering firm to build it for you, occasionally they can be quite receptive to something a little out of the ordinary to get their heads around. With a budget of $800 I'd be looking for a second hand G25, G27 may push the budget out seeing as they are still new to the market (relatively) and around $500. VRC in Palmy used to do a racing seat but don't think they do that anymore. Riven on here also makes race setups but are def in the higher end of the price bracket (worth the investment though if your doing alot of racing)
