WTB - DDR-800 Ram / CPU

Post by Maniak » Wed Feb 08, 2012 2:43 pm

rFactor 2 has shown up my rig as a POS (recommended spec is 3GHZ dual-core CPU, 4Gb+ ram, ATI/AMD 4870 or better vid). To get it working from the E6400 2.13Ghz/2Gb Ram/HD4850 it did have, I managed to obtain a HD5850 (cheers Jetboy) but that only showed the limits with my CPU and ram. I am obtaining a copy of Win 7 64bit to allow lots of ram so am on the hunt for:

2 x 2 Gb DDR2-800 ram sticks (m/b has four slots, 2Gb max in each, with 2 x 1 Gb already there).
1 x better Socket 775 CPU - something like an E8400 and above, poss E6850 (not sure if a quad would do the trick).

As you can tell, I am not in a position to slap down $1000-1500 on brand spanking new internals but if someone has just completed an upgrade - I'm interested.

Cheers,
Maniak

its a beta , nothing you do is going to make Rf2 run any better mate, once it hits retail version and you still cant run it.. then think about upgrades.

2LO - cheers, I'll keep them in mind if nothing else works out.

Hugh - true and I hope they optimise rF2 when it does get to retail but my current CPU/Ram is only just on the minimum list and really should be given a tickle up. I'll keep trying to save for a VRConcepts/Computer Lounge upgrade type deal.

yep , god knows when the next Rf2 build will be...at least with C.A.R.S I get a monthly build as a junior team member.(17 dollars) and it has so such potential, l hope they hit the mark.
