In the deep end
yip i jumped in the deep end...
this is my 1st stockcar no doubt iv got a LOT to learn!
its almost ready to race although it has been backed in to the wall hard on the left rear and has slightly bent the rear bumper which has pushed the side rail foward therefore snapping and cracking some of the outrigers off the main chassis rail. i have been told my best bet is to heat the bent at the rear bumper and use a portapower to push the siderail and rear bumper back into place and weld it all back up.
only prob i dont have a portapower...will have to see what happens there.
have had a quick check over the car (as i got it last night) all the bellhousing bolts were finger tight, starter moter was lose also and a engine mount bolt was missing... no doubt i will spanner check it more than once before the off season is over.

Re: In the deep end
awesome bro, i myself have had the honour of making my first season a memerable one through not only my car (ex marmite and gumboot team car flatty) but through the knowledge of rhody game, noel phipps the old man, billy neal, and a few others that i raced rhodys car and had a ball in my first season after the headplate rule made my car illegal, i loved it and wish more then the average person to get into it and race stockies its awesome and so much fun..... kiaora bro, kia kaha and keep up the awesome work

Re: In the deep end
Thats not necessarily true there Ferg as it depends on how much force (tonne) type thing he is pushing out and may require more than say a 3 tonne jack etc..FERG 41e wrote:chris nice and you dont need a portapower just use a jack from a

Anyways nice work bud, as Aaron said keep us updated on ya progress

The best part is the letter that should be on the side of the car

Re: In the deep end
Awesome bud, great to see another new face in the stockcar ranks, albeit in the south island
If I was you i'd just replace the rear bumper, I made that call with mine (see off topic section).
if you cant afford/dont have the time to do it, heat the bumper and bend it back, rebrace the back bumper and I would look into why it went forwards in the first place ie: incorrect bracing, shite welding, just a big snot? Also something alot of people overlook, check your wheelgates are a tight fit, if they arent a tight fit the bumper has room to move!
All the best bud
cheers
