31/08/08 CoD4 server settings

Post by Sasquatch » Tue Aug 26, 2008 2:57 pm

game mode: HQ
Old School: Enabled
Spectating: free
Killcam: on
ff: shared
Time limit: 15min
score:250
hq life: unlimited
HQ activity delay: 15seconds
lassic HQ mode: enabled

maps are

killhouse
district
bog
downpour
crossfire

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Some things to know:

Respawn is set to default as I forgot to ask Riven to change it >_< Its been a very long time since i've played O'skool but I seem to remember only head shots get kills. Not sure if knifes have to be head shots either. Unknown if noobtubes have to hit heads, or if noobtube and nades can cause splash damage or not.

HQ is unlimited capture time, ie: it stays in the defender's possession until taken.

This is not hardcore so you'll have crosshairs.

Everyone spawns with the default Skorpion (I think). There will be gold flashing circles all over the map displaying where you can go to pick up other types of weapons. Oh yeah, there are far less weapons then players so first to get, first to pwn. When you respawn you start with the Skorpion and start all over again.

This is not a popular game mode or settings. This will be frustrating and difficult for many but not for all. You'll have to think and play differently to what you are used too in order to win. I decided to go with these settings to make every player learn how to overcome the opposition faster, than the opposition can adapt to the new style of play....

The settings should be up tonight or tomorrow...I strongly suggest everyone get some practice time in.......Good luck to us all _b

I have never actually played Ol'School untill about 5 mins ago when I made my own server and ran around for 2 mins trying to get the basic jist of things.
Very strange, can see people camping by the pick-ups :larf:

Should be a different game and can see epic rapings happening O_o

After a bit of a play with the guys from Scu last night, if they actually muster a team we will have to be at our best with repescts to teamwork and skill to come close, especially with the unlimited HQ rule

I quite like the new settings especially if I get that double tap perk on Bog :D .

Although I noticed quite a lot of annoying perks lol, martyrdom, last stand.
Also there are plenty of noob tubes, especially on District  .

Well didn't we get raped tonight
Scu definitely have it on HQ mode but we're hanging back to much on the HQ defence....watch the Scu guys, they get in around the HQ and when they die (which they do alot) they just sprint back into the fight...we run in cap the HQ then run away....watched an HQ get captured on Bog (while I was waiting to respawn) with not a shot fired at the 2 scu guys....all the KSR players were hanging back waiting for "tea and biccies" to be served
Kill : Death ratios do not win the game.....capturing HQ's and holding them do...once ones capped then the only thought should be to get to the cap and hold...no chasing round guys half way across the map, just get to the cap and provide bullets/frags into Scu

You get more kills camping at the HQ (once captured) than you do chasing others around the map. ;)

I actually enjoyed the settings for tonight.

Yeah I noticed hanging back a few times but oh well.

I was so rubbish my best way to get kills was to run into an area with heaps of enemies and do a sciucide nade, caught many a person out on the last 3 maps with that tactic :larf:

Was a good night over-all however, and I even managed to top one of the rounds which im quite pleased with :D

Cheers to the SCu guys that showed up _b

And big thanks to Sas for setting up the Scrim :D _b

Someone needs to bump the thread on challenge night! I didn't remember until about 9.55..

What little of old school mode I played, sucked a lot, so probably didn't miss too much!

Bring on TF2 for the next challenge. :D

In this mode all we think about is capping the HQ and then we spilt in too our two groups. Especially when their is no auto destroy time set. One defends the other flanks and attacks from behind to try and disorientate the enemy.

I don't know if any of our guys have TF2.
But we are about to start playing Forgotten Hope 2 mod for BF2.

The reason ' I ' hung back a lot is mainly because of that cruddy scorpion.
You may say 'yeah but we all got it' however I hate that gun in particular which is why I hung back more until I get a decent gun. It may take time but that is the trade off.

The only real nit pick I have is the respawns with HQ. You can kill a few back out reload and by the time you get a decent go at another they have respawned on the HQ (given that the enemy have the HQ.

Guns are way too under powered... 3 shotgun shots at short to medium range and then the enemy turns around and scorpions me >_<

I'm not playing any old school again.

I totally agree with you Aaron, For me tonight absoloutly sucked shyt >_< . That scorpion is way to weak for a starting gun. IMO I would have preferd it if we had started with say the P90, Ak-47 or the mini uzi..

But anyway's cheers to all the SCu guys that turned up, And Sas for organising the Scrim _b

Don't worry none of us liked it either. Best tactic we found though was to put a couple of rounds in to the guy and charge and knife them. The only other thing I dislike about having no auto destroy time on the HQ is if one team gets it it can be hard to destroy it.

Yeah there was only a few times when a team actually destroyed the HQ. Most of the scores were 250 zip. Was a challenge and something new but maybe experiment with turning hardcore mode on next week, I mean next time :D
