Post by bigDEE » Sat Dec 26, 2009 3:41 pm

You should be able to, make sure its installed etc and is recognized in Control Panel -> Game Controllers

Outta curiousity, why would you want to use a controller rather then a mouse for a FPS?

Cheers fullas thanks having another problem boys every time i try to connect on multiplayer mode it comes up saying iw3mp.exe has stopped working and windows needs to close program to search for solutions so i close it nothing happens and then when i try to connect again it says the game didnt shut down properly last time and gives me the option of running in safe mode or normal but it keeps coming up with the same answer when trying both that the program has stopped working and needs to close. i have tryed reinstalling the game but still comes up with the same thing.

Ok theres a few things that could be wrong,

Firstly, to join 99% of the servers online you will need the latest patch/s

Secondly, your firewall is most likely blocking the Multiplayer and causing it to crash. I know a lot of people say it shouldn't interfere with the actual running of the game, but I encountered same problem with Zonealarm, or even when I had no internet, that it caused Multiplayer to close.

Also, pay to turn off your Antivirus's, and any background programs etc just like ya do on Heat/rFactor

Also, how far are you getting? Loading screen? Multiplayer menu? Joining a server/game?

And what OS?

If on Vista try running as Administrator

Do you get an error message at all, or does it just crash?

Try plugging in your headphones/ and or mic and that will probably sort it. Had an issue like that on the shoutcasting computers at xlan and they had to borrow my headset to load the game up.

As aaron says, I did a quick google and found that a few had that problem (had to plug in mic/headset), if that doesn't fix it try updating your Sound Card Drivers and Video Card Drivers

Yea, Xfire is definately recommended, as it shows a lot more servers then what you can usually find ingame, as well as the ability to join someone else on your friend list directly through Xfire.

You will need to update/patch ya game first though, I think they are still available at www.ausgamers.com.au

As posted in the other thread.
As soon as you install CoD4 to your PC you only need to download the 1.6 patch (282mb) and the 1.6-1.7 patch (30mb)
