So after giving us a broken game, they're now trying to weasel more money out of us with a map pack that includes a few cancelled maps and a new Zombies map for which I still can't join game invites to. q-
The inevitable first downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops was announced over the weekend on Microsoft's Major Nelson Radio podcast.
Dubbed 'First Strike,' the pack of five maps will launch on February 1, 2011, priced at 1,200 Microsoft Points ($15). As per Microsoft's arrangement with publisher Activision, it'll be released first on Xbox 360. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 map packs released under the same arrangement took around a month to make it PC and PlayStation 3.

"We learned a lot of lessons in the development and design of the maps on the shipped game," developer Treyarch's director of online Dan Bunting explained. "For DLC we really wanted to go bigger with some of the things we learned that people liked. We focused a lot more on providing variety of weaponry, variety of engagement types, variety of verticality--a lot more verticality, bringing some sniper opportunities into it."

"One of the popular things we've added in several of the maps in the shipped game were the scripted moments, scripted elements and interactivity" he added, "so that's something we've made sure we wanted to bring to every single one of the new maps.

The five maps are:

Multiplayer
Berlin Wall: set around the Checkpoint Charlie crossing in divided Berlin.
Discovery: German research base in Antarctica, abandoned since World War 2.
Kowloon: on the rainy rooftops of Kowloon City in China, drawing inspiration from the single-player.
Stadium: a hockey rink in the North-Eastern USA.

Zombie
Ascension: still classified information, apparently.

"$15 for that?" you might scoff. Scoff all you want! The first MW2 DLC pack racked up over one million sales on Xbox 360 on launch day alone. Given that the base game of Cod Blops broke MW2's one- and five-day sales records, it's a fair bet that First Strike will sell more than a few copies. Doubtless, Activision will kindly and loudly inform us of how well it sells.

Just play BC2 ... free maps last week and still support from DICE after months of its initial release ... don't see that from Activision anymore.

This ^^, have reinstalled it due to waiting so long for a patch for BO, still have yet to play it after the patch.
Been playing Veitnam on bc2, its ok and would prefer to pay for it over any dlc for BO.

There's rumors that the Black Ops DLC will include some new guns too.

This isn't just some new guns tho.

This is 4 new classes, with fully new kits and attachments and kit loadouts etc as well as new vehicles etc as well.

I'm still waiting on a fix for my main menu crashes plus a NVIDIA driver that actually allows me to play the game in fullscreen mode.

You realise a lot of games don't offer support for Laptop graphics cards. Have you tried hitting Alt + Enter to go fullscreen.

Either way, Black Ops still fails

The game defaults to fullscreen - I got a black screen but the sound still played. I had to edit the config file to be in window mode and the game works fine. I also found a tool that resizes and removes the bar at the top of the window which makes it just like playing in full screen. Problem practically solved except I have to launch the tool everytime I wish to play the game.

The reason I'm wanting a driver update (the latest beta ones did nothing but break all my games bar Black Ops) is because I had the same issue with Mafia II at first (having to play in window mode) but then a new NVIDIA driver update came out and it was fixed.

And Black Ops doesn't support anything. (:
