Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

Post by Jetboy » Fri Oct 12, 2007 3:20 pm

Single Player demo is now out at around 1.4Gb, been "testing" it here at work and so far has met with a resounding OMG :D

Most people here are die hard CoD2 players as we play it most lunchtimes but from the comments that have been made today looks as though 2 is getting retired and 4 is going to be the new lunchtime activity (well once the full game is released)

One of the guys has experience on the M4 and is known to be pretty straight up when making judgements.....he had to drag himself away back to work but made the comment that the weapon effects etc were bang on

Good place to download http://www.ausgamers.com.au as the yahoo! official release servers spent most of the morning hiding in the corner refusing to work with the massive ripping they got

You'll notice you have an option to select duel graphics cards! I didn't see this option at first but once i selected it my frames went up another 15fps on average.

bullets now go through soft objects like drywall (jib), wooden fences, iron fences, vehicle doors, and some oil drums. This is nice if you have dude hiding behind door or door jam and you can't get the angle on him. Now its no problem (depending on weapon you are using) just empy half a clip through the wall where you think he is and you may hear a satisfying thump on the other side as the body hitting the floor. This will make MP very interesting. From the youtube vids i've watched hiding behind soft structures will give you zero protection. This includes firing through the ceiling in a building to get the guy above you walking around or even shooting through the floor to get the guy beneth you. This gives the game a real 3 dimensional feel to it.

Grenades you can pick up and throw back _b

the game has a semi destructable environment. Hiding behind parked cars is not a good idea as they tend to blow up.

I've already preorded my copy through VRC. While the has look of a console game it plays like a pc game (so far).

There are no vehicles for MP unfortunately.

The demo plays really smooth on lower end pc's. This is great as you don't have to upgrade to enjoy the game. I recomend everyone try the demo.

room clearing with night vision.

Your dude blows the hinges off the door and kicks in to sweep and clear.

In my post i mentioned about bullet penitration on soft targets....well, humans are soft as well. Look closely as you can see the bullet passing through the enemy

calling in airstrike to take out a stronghold.

The game gives off a feel like when you see a youtube vid on the urban combat going on in Iraq today

Probably not Snake. Indications are this is not like Bioshock, Crycis, Armed Assault, and the others that crush mid to low end pc specs. It appears to be a game for the masses for all to play.

I was lucky enough to get hold of the Multiplayer BETA version of this on the 360 and it was amazing. Far better then all other war games I have played on the system so far, so no doubt it will be awesome on the PC _b

I will have to download the demo to try it out, but I doubt my PC will handle it :(

Amazingly my PC does run this game but with the details down pretty low, but it does confirm what Sasquatch has said, low - mid end computers should be able to run this _b _b
