please correct me if I'm wrong .... but didnt Danman create the original track? ... that Burroughs fella reckons he didnt know who the original author of the track was

plus he got the flag on the title graphic wrong

I think danman did create it but then i'm not sure if someone else may have made another, I guess we'd have to find out from danman.
In fact I think danman created the track for Nascar 2003 not F1 (but not 100% sure on that one tho).

That thread is funny, "is taupo a real track?" heh.

I had been trying to contact Dan, but his email has changed.
JB didnt know who did it, as its not in the readme of the track he downloaded for GTR.
The NZ flag has been fixed, as has the AIW.

I have obtained permission to convert Ruapuna from a GPL beta I have, as well as a very accurate Teretonga layout. These are currently WIP.

I apologise to Dan for not contacting before Taupo was released. I wasnt aware it was due to become public.

Sorry Guy's, seems I got the info too late, was a total miss-communication between Sandy and I. I PM'ed Danman with all the info. I am truely sorry about the flag deal, another mistake on my part. Track was made incredible well to begin with, great job. I also told him I would pull the link if he wanted, or will edit all the posts to give rightfull credit where it is due. I would like to see you make the new layout with all the track variations. The new layout looks pretty cool.

Once again let me express how sorry I am about the flag, Please accept my appologes.

its an easy mistake to make, our flag looks very similar to the aussies (just different stars) our government has been pondering on the idea of changing it ... but you know what politicians are like, cant agree on bloody anything

a little OT, but to suit these NZ tracks that are in the works, I have a very good friend in Ian.H who is doing all the NZ GT3 skins for the PCC05 Mod.

Currently the Placemakers/Halliday/Coulthard car is in the works.
I am heading to Timaru tomorrow morning and will get more photos so the Nichibo cars can be done next. Ruapuna 2 weeks later and hopefully I can finish getting all the pics required.
Damn I wish i had another battery for the digi cam.

Just had a blat around Taupo and realized how low poly and basic it is (absolutely no reflection on the conversion - the original was made for F12002

)

Guess I'll just have to give myself a kick in the arse to do a high res version with the new layout (after manfeild of course

)

Your version is awsome, dont even talk it down, You did a killer Creation. Heck all I did was make it work in rFactor.

Now I'm really pumped, if you decide to do the new layout.

I found out this is the actual name of the track.

I have also found the Original Author of the track.

Danman from SIM CENTRAL http://www.simcentral.co.nz/ based out of NZ. He and his group are an awesome bunch af racers. They have a website and forum, so you guys go check em out. Here is there forum http://www.simcentral.co.nz/forum please let Danman know what a great job he did on the track

Danman originally made the track for F1 and did an OUTSTANDING Job, I was simply the "Hack" that made it work for rFactor. So I take no credits for any of the great Modeling and COUNTLESS hours Danman put into it's creation.

Danman is also contemplating redoing the new extended layout from the new constuction going on. This track will really be something incredible. Please give Danman your support and let him know in the http://www.simcentral.co.nz/forum Forum, how much his efforts are apprectiated.
