XGN are about to start their next HistorX mod league. Wed nights, 1st race starts 10:30pm NZT, so finish by midnight. 1st race 30 March. Good clean racing, lots of forum chat. Current league has 20-25 car fields. Mostly Aussies, with a couple of late-night Kiwis.

Format this time is a little different. Rent-a-Racer. Mainly TC-65 mod cars with some slower GTC-65 cars. Each week you "rent" a car from your remaining "money". 1st week you can afford Jag / Cortina / Alfa / Abarth Coppa Mille / Mini 1310 etc. If you are a top finisher you get less "prize money", and may only be able to afford a Elite / Mini / Abarth 1000 on the next night. If you are a low placed finisher you get more "prize money" and may be able to afford a Falcon / Mustang / 911 for a week.

Starts tonight if anyone wants some HistorX racing. Not too late to sign up. About 25 drivers so far, including IIRC Rifty and I from KSR, and a couple of non-KSR Kiwis.

I would have liked to have a go with this format, but cant spare the time...Good luck vandem and let us know how it works out.

If you are planning to join late, at least go to the Rent A Racer site and sign up to use a Cortina or Alfa etc, otherwise you have to race the lowest "price" car, IIRC the smaller-engined Mini or Abarth.

So how did Vandem and DraK go?

I hadn't even started up HistorX till I joined the server, just went with the Cortina as I had used it in League 10.
5 laps praccy on a track I'd not used an HX car on and I Qual'd 10th with a 1:57.5 (+/-)

Race 1 went ok, easy off the start and lost a few places, and had a few "ahhhh shit! moment, but pushed on to reclaim all but one spot I had lost. Had an epic battle with another Cortina and made up 1.5sec on the last lap and made a move when he went a little wide, but got to keen on the throttle and got well untidy with only a couple of corners to go. 11th will do

Race2 was a mix. Got a ripper start from 11th to secure 7th place with a 1.1sec gap, but stuffed it and got into the sand (glue more like!) and dropped down to 12th, pushed on and had some great battles, but stuffed it again in the same spot and ended up 15th I think


All in all a lot of fun, and was damn clean racing by all

Well after a last minute dash to get on, trying to find server password and then missing qualifying to download the skin pack, I think I got on with a minute to spare before the race. Up untill then I think I had done 2 laps in the alfa on standard settings.

Race 1: started at the back of the grid, had a good start, passed a few only to discover someone facing the wrong way on the start line, hit them spun and in to pit wall. Had my work cut out for me... Continued chasing and broke my pb lap time, got a 1:58.2. Had a good run though, but need to find a good setup for the alfa.

Race 2:straed near the back again, had a great start passing quiet a few up in to 15th! Was pretty stoked. Lap 2 i had a mini understeer in to me in one of the corners would push me wide and on to the grass/sand. rejoined back in in 24 i think. Chased hard again and think i ended up aound 18th..

Was good fun, bit rushed. good standard of driving all round and some names there from ORA to.

Will try make it agin next round... Need a banker to take a loan out fro that healey or the elan!

Skin pack? I saw you mention it in server. I didn't even know there was one
I didn't have any unknown cars, so I assume it's one I already have, Odd.

Default setup worked for the Cortina, just needed another gear on those long straights.
Impressed with the turnout, 28/29 drivers I think, and a great spread of talent.

Start time was a little late, but the race night admin didn't muck around, although I didn't agree with a 20min open Qual session. Other than that a very well run night. I'll be back for the next round

IIRC the skin pack is an ORA add-on, you probably already had it Rifty.

I beached my Coppa Abarth early in race 1 when dicing with some Cortinas / Minis, managed to reverse out but lost almost a lap. So started from the back in race 2, was baulked off the grid, but gradually worked past slower Elites and Minis and spent the rest of the race batting Cortinas. The Abarth could brake a little later than the Cortina and was a little better accelerating, had a similar top speed, but was a little slower through the turns (not sure if this was car or setup or driver skill).

I haven't seen how the Rent A Ride money will work out, but Eastern Creek has lots of 2nd and 3rd gear turns, so something nimble could be good, the Jag won't be so much of a bargain here. My plan is to alternate Coppa Abarth - Coppa Abarth - 911 during the league, but I'll also take a look at the Alpine. I've used the Alfa and Cortina before so am keen to try something different.

I can set up a "practice" server for us for the week before each event if this will help
