DDS Photoshop Question

Post by Yoda_NZ » Thu Aug 04, 2011 6:04 pm

Long time simmer (IL2) now looking at moving on to 4 wheels

I have photoshop 5 and running DX9. I have downloaded the Nivida DDS plug and ''installed" it. I can see the DDS file in the plug in directory within photoshop. However when trying to load or save as a DDS file, I get an error saying that Photoshop requires a plug in for this type of file.

Have tried re downloading and re install but no luck. Any ideas?

Need to get it working so I can skin a car and get on the track with you guys and learn how to drive.

Doesn't sound like its the right file or not installed correctly..

Did you get it from here http://developer.nvidia.com/legacy-texture-tools

or here http://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-text ... -photoshop

You can also use Paint.NET to save as DDS, which is built in. It is free. However to open your photoshop file you get a plugin :) but I did that last month with no problems.

Thanks for the information. Not sure why it is not working. In the mean time I set myself up with Gimp and loaded a dds plugin. Seems to be working fine.

Unless someone's finally given in, Nvidia and Adobe are in a stand-off regarding this.
As of CS5 the DDS plugins are incompatible. Neither side is willing to make the effort to modify their software because "it's the other guy's fault!"
