Noob help
Enjoyed the Skoda practice on Sunday night at Barbagello. Managed to shave almost 2 seconds off, but still fine myself off the pace and l'm not keen on becoming a mobile chiccane. With out anyone giving away their secret's could someone who is in the 1.04s send me some tip's.

Re: Noob help
Not a huge amount in the setup itself.
Be very smooth, any time spent with the back end out will cost you time.
The speed you get comes from momentum, since they are under powered, keep a late apex and shallower line on exit, minimizing the wheel spin from the inside front wheel

What Obsc3ne said.
Also with the obscene (see what I did there?) weight penalties this league, you will only be at the back for one round, then you'll be the fastest out there with everyone else dropping several seconds due to 200 pies!

Cheers for that. Spinning the inside left makes a lot of sense. I've getting into the corner too early I think then.

Re: Noob help
The other things that can help are knowing the track well and where the braking points are.
I went from 1.06 to low 1.04 by doing what Obsc3ne said but also found late braking doesn't help in all corners. Smooth and tryng to keep a good corner speed is really important with these cars.
Watching some of the faster guys on the track is another great way to learn.

Re: Noob help
What times are you doing Yoda? I'm a regular back marker, did 1:06 - 1:07s on my first practice night and then down to regular mid 1:05s on 2nd night by working hard on getting onto throttle earlier in several places and taking a straighter line through the esses.
Afterwards I used rfVCRmerge to see where I was losing time, matched my mid 1:05 lap against some mid-high 1:04s, I'm OK through first half of the lap but am losing time on the 2nd last turn (and down the following straight down ot the last turn). So I now know where I need to work on my line. 1st time I'd used rfVCRmerge and it was easy and useful.
For rfVCRmerge see the next few posts from here:

Re: Noob help
Yoda, the only and best tip I can give is this..hit the brake, release the brake, then turn and don't touch the brake till the next corner, don't be gentle as you would with a RWD car on the acc...floor it and hope for the best for the exit till you get the entry right.
Rick showed me and it works for us less skilled drivers.
Any default setup works fine on these cars I find.

Re: Noob help
Thanks, been doing the braking in a straight line, power on and being smooth etc pretty well. Down to 1.05.1 and after using rFmerge can see where I need to improve my lines. Great tool. Keep thinking i am turning the wheel too much at times and losing some drive.
Thanks for the help, the 04's are within reach.

Re: Noob help
Getting that extra half tenth will involve using the brake in and through the corner, not so much to slow down, but to stabilize, turn, and get power down whilst keeping momentum and not losing traction or speed
