Hidden Valley - Round 1 - Race Thread - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18174

Skin Pack: - Massive thanks to Hugh for doing the skin pack. _b

Custom skins will be used for this league. Please check the NZrFL:20 Skin Thread - viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18161

Templates are located in \rFactor\ModData\ORSM\V8FU Templates

Cars must be based on the Community Edition - VE Holdens and FG Falcons to be used.

I know some of you are not able to do your own skins, and everyone else is busy on their own, so we'll allow the use of default skins from the game, but you will need to send Hugh Jarse a pm with the car you want to use, your name on the points site and the 3 digit race number so your car choice can be added to the skin pack.
Also post in the skin thread your choice so it can be added to the reserved list, first in first served.

Only default cars from the 2011 season are allowed to be reserved. This is on a 1st come basis, So get in quick :D _b

It's prefered that if a team is going to reserve default cars that they use both cars from a default team.
ie: Both Jim Beam cars, or both Vodafone cars.

Skins and default requests should be in by Tuesday 9th May. Please email skins to: kiwi12@hotmail.com
NOTE: No late skins or reserves will be accepted, you have plenty of time so get cracking!

If you need help with skinning please post in the skins thread.

Skinpack download links:
(To be added)

It is recommended that you delete any test or WIP cars (after backing up) to avoid issues once the skin pack is done.

Track Updates
(To be added if required)

Teams:
Optional teams. Up to 2 drivers per team. It is preferred that team cars have coordinated custom, or default skins.

Driver Etiquette
The usual, e.g.

It is the passing cars responsibility to make the pass cleanly and without contact. Without a 50% overlap it isn't a passing move, it is a dive-bomb.
The car being passed must give a much room as is realistic.
Defending your line on a straight is OK, but in one direction only.
Attempt to keep two wheels on the racing surface (the marked, paved race track) at all times.
You should not improve your position by using non racing surfaces.
Headlights never need to be on.
Save any post race celebration driving antics until several corners past the finish line.
No text chat during Qual, or while racing.

Protests

Protests will be looked at. Please feel free to make them in an adult manner.

Submit the lap and time that the incident occurred on. Crash Committee members will decide who was at fault. You are not to lay blame if you wish your penalty to have effect. Offensive behavior by other drivers that does not have a direct effect on you can still be submitted. Please remember, if it does not show up on the replay or a video is not available, it is almost impossible for the Crash Committee to make a ruling.

Protests must be submitted by 8PM the Thursday after the races.

Send protests via PM to Crash Committee

When lodging protests please keep the protest detail to a minimum. Track, Race #, time, and who is involved are all that is required.
Please do not submit a detailed story as the CC will be able to determine the cause. Use your forum + driver name when submitting protests.

Protests will be ignored if not submitted via PM to Crash Committee, or if incorrect details are submitted.

Penalties

Penalties will be issued out in a form of loss of either race grid positions, series points or loose the ability to join the next race depending on the severity of the penalty.

Teamspeak:
It would be appreciated if all drivers could at least be in listen mode on Teamspeak, for the safety of all.

There will be NO talking on TS during qualifying, or use of in-game chat. Failure to adhere will ensure your loss of qualification position (moved to back of grid or start from pit.). There will be no warnings.

Points site / sign-ups:
Sign up at the usual points site http://points.kiwisimracing.net.nz. Follow the instructions and post back here if it all gets too hard. Once you've done that, join the V8 Supercar League.

NOTE: Use a 3 digit number, not starting with zero. Drivers from previous Tuesday night leagues have first pick on their numbers (check the points site).
If using a default car, sign up using the default car number.

Limit 42 entries, so don't bugger around or you'll miss out.

This post will be updated with any changes made, so please check regularly for important updates.

With the league starting soon, I have been doing a few test laps on some of the tracks and thought I'd share times so others may get a gauge of where a mid / back marker is. I'm still getting use to the brakes on these as I tend to lock up the fronts too much or enter the corners too fast and power slide around.

Hidden Valley: I was able to get to a 1.06.3. doing mainly low 7s and high 6's for most of the testing. Still trying to decide what diff is better - 3.50 or 3.25.

Clipsil 500: Did a 1.21.9 the last night and that was after quite a few laps getting the brake markers sorted and a nice driving flow. I'm really doing mid 1.22 to high 1.22 each lap and found that going slower was faster. Love the kink on the back straight and have managed when all the stars are aligned and the moon is in the right quadrant to get through there just over 200kph.
Just a note - don't run over the ripple strips at the end of the start straight. I got some serious air time! :larf:

Symmons Plains: The bumpiest track I think I have driven! After softening up the suspension and playing with the brake bias, I managed to get down to a 51.2 but really, low 52's / high 51's for most laps. This is going to be a busy race!

With all testing I'm running with a full tank of fuel so not going for hot laps here but race times.

EDIT: stuffed up names of tracks.... now corrected

We've decided to extend the skin cutoff date to the 9th to allow some late entires

Those who contacted me, feel free to get skins done, or chose a default 2011 car

We don't want Matthew Greeks racing here!! I was just in a V8 race with him at SRNZ and he had a damaged car and was trying to take people out. When questioned he didn't think there was anything wrong. We do not want or need that sort of driving here.

If he does it once here, he's gone, simple fix :D
