Dumb port question

Post by Transit » Mon Jan 28, 2013 2:13 pm

Hi chaps,
I'm trying to get hosting sorted on my shiny new rF historix so I can drag my old Mate
to Manfeild at will :)
I wonder what I should put in the local IP number ?
Is it my machines or the rF servers number ?
I stuck mine in, and he could seem me hosting but couldn't join.
Have searched for the answer but too old to make sense of it :)
cheers for any clues
Pete
the dreaded dse software is such that it only opens rarely so any changes are a battle :D

When I host I enable DMZ and add in my machines internal network IP, and away we go. That does open the machine up to the world though, but it works _b When done I disbale DMZ.

KSR has a HX server running, and I'm sure Manfield is in the track rotation. Just vote it on.
Look for Inspire in matchmaker.

Local IP is the ip of the pc that is hosting rFactor server. You may also need to allow it through the windows firewall on the server.

The ip address is from your pc that is hosting the server.

This is how I've setup our RF2 server for ORA..we can also run two RF1's at the same time if needed (never needed it so far as it's just a backup server incase)

The other ports are for a hotlaps page, teamspeak and running two versions of Rfactor1

No DMZ, no disabling of any firewalls in router or windows

all ports needed

34297-34298
34447
34397
443
34597
34747
3389
44297
54297-54397
8000
34397-34398
34447-34448
9987
30033
10011
2010
41144
2008
64297

(I used this from the web, it worked)
Q. How can I run 2 or more servers on the same ip and have rfactor recognize the servers.

A. Create driver profiles for each server. Name the first profile "mcopy Server1" and the second "mcopy Server2". Then for Server1 open the multiplayer.ini and set these lines:
Query Port Start="34297"
Port Start="34397"
Default Game Name="mcopy Server1"

For Server2 set:
Query Port Start="34298"
Port Start="34398"
Default Game Name="mcopy Server2"

Then create shurtcuts like this:
rFactor Dedicated.exe" +profile "mcopy Server1" +oneclick
rFactor Dedicated.exe" +profile "mcopy Server2" +oneclick

Then open these ports on your firewall:

TCP/UDP 34297 - 34298
UDP 34397 - 34398
TCP 34447 - 34448

Hopefully this helps someone

Thanks Pits,
sorry about slow reply.
I tried to download more tracks but rF said I had hit my 3 download limit and now had to pay. WTF I already paid for the fecking game, now this.
I lost interest after that and went back to GPL :(
