Monday night Nascar

Post by Inspector » Thu Oct 20, 2005 11:23 am

With the temporary (maybe permanant) demise of the stockcar league and the extremely long gap between Wednesdays, I have been thinking about running another Nascar league on Monday nights.

There are many options we could consider but I'm going to organise a Nascar Stockcar league if there is enough interest and will maybe consider other options if no one is interested in this idea.

Some of you guys will remember the big two team race we had at Bristol some time ago with damage on and stockar rules, that was great fun. We divided the entrants into 2 teams and had short races at Bristol with everyone scoring points and very few rules. With the short races it is not too bad if you get taken out early on with much fun being had by the guys not racing becoming commentators as the racing progressed.

So here is what I'm proposing, everyone signs up at SimRacerHQ and you will the be divided into two teams based upon some sort of known skill rating drawn from previous league standings. We could go with a standard car set, maybe the Blue (Ford) and Red (Holden) team which everyone could just add their number too and upload. With only 2 teams the problem with people not turning up effecting the team points will not be great and we can also award last place points to absenties if we have to.

We will race a 4 or 5 week series, depending on when we can get started and it will end or line up with the end of the current Nascar league, each race will be at a small track like Bristol and there will 2 or 3 short races each night, say about 50 laps or so each, about 15 to 20 minutes, and your points will be added up for the team - no matter where you finish. Nascar will score you as long as you don't quit out and we will look at something like a no pit rule for the last 20 laps or something like that so once the numbers thin out the race will either be won across the finish line or the cars will self destruct. Remeber it will all be about points so getting your car across the finish line as far up the feild as possible is vital, but you will have the ability to block or try and take out leading opposition cars.

Anyway - post your interest and any ideas/suggestions and we might just kick off this Monday if there is enough interest.
