GTR V8s kick off tonight

Post by famin » Tue Nov 22, 2005 12:11 pm

come one come all (except you Prometheus... and you skuzzlebutt..)

yes the inaugural Aussie V8 race is TONIGHT!

Official practice at 7:30, race starts at 8:30...
Race is 25mins long and there are no pit stops.

Note that tyre wear and fuel consumption is not normal so adjust your setups accordingly.

The Track is tight yet flows when treated with respect. The V8 setup is very stable with a touch of Oversteer. Just try and keep it on the black stuff. DONT fecking run too close into turn one and try NOT to punt others off accidentally.
Brain fade may result in penalties being applied.

Questions:
1. Who is able to admin it and roll over to the practice and race please?
2. Who is setting up the GTRLS site for the points?
3. Do we want a second race on the night?

Go the Fords!!!
Throttle depressed, driver very happy

KiwiSimRacing is available to use for the points, track list, rules etc if you want it. Ron may be able to set up something at SimRacerHQ but I'm not sure.

I guess it is easy for those who aren't racing in other leagues and only have to worry about 1 event a week to concentrate on ......

So for those that this is just "another" race night and are planning on joining in on this "organised" league and you can't find the thread or post that clearly lists the format, the rules, the tracks or the links etc to required files.........

Week 1 appears to be:

Server: 203.114.130.15

Track: Oran Park - Track Download

Practice: 7.30pm till 8.30PM
Qualify: Not Sure if there is
Race: 8.30PM

One 25 minute race with no compulsary pit stop.

Cars: As per list in Marty's post (including Happy in car 07)

Do you put your hand up to organise stuff at work and then slap people because they don't know what to do because you haven't given them a job or did in fact give them a job but handed it out in a memo with 115 other memos and the person missed it?

Maybe that is why you get shit at work?

All praise for standing up and getting the ball rolling but you got it rolling because you wanted to race. If you want others to race with you then you have to put the hard yards in and make it worth their while to come and race because it will be well organised.

Yea no point in geting into a tizzy over it all. I have no idea how UnbounD/Eagle set up their GTRLS site but it looks like a template of some sort. Eagle/Unbound, if one of you can give me a head start on this by telling me what you guys had to do to get it all running that would be a big bonus.

Your lucky I poked my head in to have a quick look at this thread. I haven't been paying attention to the other one as I wasn't planning on doing any more road racing this year.
famin wrote: 1. Who is able to admin it and roll over to the practice and race please?

1. Even a moderate degree of attention during any of the races in the last two seasons or the threads discussing the seasons prior to their start and you'd know what has been said above. There is no remote admin of the server. The only way to roll over sessions/events is by vote.

Inspector wrote:Eagle/Unbound, if one of you can give me a head start on this by telling me what you guys had to do to get it all running that would be a big bonus.
The version of GTR-LS I've been running for the last season can be downloaded from http://www.gtr.pl/gtrls/ (I've been running v2.0.3e mainly because there was nothing useful in the update to spend the time upgrading)

It needs a Web server with PHP and MySQL 4 for the database.

So the way to get it working is to install your choice of Web Server, install PHP and configure a MySQL 4 server so it all plays nicely with the other two parts. Probably took me 1/2 a day starting with no real knowledge of php or mysql to get them working together with Apache. Someone who has a clue will certainly get it going faster.

I'm afraid I can't remember the specfic problems I had but I know there were a few. :/

I've just been running it on my main system for the past couple of months. Hence why it dissepears from time to time. If you want to just use that for the next 5 weeks you can feel free Inspector. I can bump you to Admin on it and you can set up a new season and add the V8 cars. Just have to be careful the GT season doesn't get messed up as I don't have the final races results to post yet.

I only set it up on my system as I was only expecting one more GTR based season. It certainly won't be available after Christmas and it's does get turned off from time to time if I'm having any issues. If you can live with that then use it. If not then I can try and do a DB export if you want to keep all the login details and last seasons GT stats. No guarantees though as I'm not sure exactly how to go about it.

Oh and extemely importantly before tonights race. If you want to be able to put the results in to GTRLS site you NEED to change the logging mode for GTR so that you get logs in the right format for GTRLS or you WON'T BE ABLE TO IMPORT THE RESULTS INTO GTRLS.

The following change must be made in your .PLR file which is located in your PlayerName sub-directory. (i.e. \GTR\UserData\Eagle32\Eagle32.PLR replacing Eagle32 with your profile name)

Extra Stats="0"

CHANGED TO

Extra Stats="1"

This gives you much more detailed logs and creates a seperate time stamped log file for every race.

I suggest more than one driver does this. If only one person has done it and they drop during the race then you won't have a result file. There is no manual entry of results into GTRLS. No results log file means no points into GTRLS unless someone wants to spend time figuring out the table structure and manually addding via sql commands.... So basically you have to have the results file. m'kay?

And ron can make a post while I'm writing mine that makes half of it irrelevant :p

I knew you'd had it up previously when I set it up Ron. But when I actually wanted it you had dissepeared off the face of the internet for a short while so I went with what I had :)
