As mentioned to Marty on Tuesday, I will be taking a break from online racing for awhile until rFactor mods come out that I'm interested in.

I will continue with the US TPTCC on Sunday's and that's about it.

I've enjoyed the GTR leagues, in their various forms, the problems notwithstanding.

I would like to see rFactor V8 and/or NAGT series in the new year.

I haven't ordered GTL and probably wont, I have too much on my plate as it is....

Tuesday or Sunday evenings are good for road racing nights, Wednesday is the traditional home of Oval racing and should stay that way I think.

I'm totally cool with GTL, personally.
Looks like it has the potential for some very close racing

After the recent results in F3 Nippon, I'd be happy with a league of that :D

But I also want to race GTL very much.

$4500? OUCH
If you look on http://www.pricespy.co.nz you can get a DVDrom for $37 or a writer for $56.
It might pay to shop around.

Agreed. Cost of components now have dropped considerably.

Even a mid priced one like this from Ascent is only $96. Or this one as a dvd reader only for $57 and that includes free shipping.

Word of warning though - stay away from Supercheap !!!

I will definitely do a V8 league of any description as long as the cars look like the V8s. Although rFactor V8 3.0 drives well I can't suspend disbelief enough to enjoy racing it when they all look like ford tauruses or something.

GTR of course was great for me but some people couldn't get it to work with their machines. Very sad since the V8 mod is absolutely brilliant.

As far as GTL goes - I have just got my copy but I will get very bored very quickly in lame gutless < 200bhp cars.

I find it VERY annoying they make you drive slow crap before you get good cars.

I will try a slow car league but will probably drop out due to boredom. I don't drive racing sims to drive a car slower than my Cossie.

I don't want to go back to the Nascar engine games. The physics aren't engaging enough after GTR/GTL/rFactor.

I will drive a rFactor F3 league though.

In summary I'll drive:
  • GTR V8s (sigh :-(
rFactor V8 (when car models done)
    rFactor F3.
GTL in slow cars until bored.
GTL in fast cars if I can unlock the bloody things.

And what about just the enjoyment of racing online with like minded people???

Slower car provide the best close racing, as everyone doesnt have to worry about kepping the damn thing on the black stuff.

How can you not enjoy powersliding the Mustang/Falcon about the place? They rock :)

I prefer the slower cars, they are more fun.

Ah but this is the way it should be, Simbin have followed the tried and true singleplayer structure of the superb Gran Turismo series.

I'm working my way through the GTL singleplayer and loving every minute!!

OK. So I've done a lot of driving with GTL now.

IT ROCKS! Once I got out of the horrible mini it was much more fun.

Very pretty - racing with 20 different classic cars is lots of fun.

I can live with this stupid win your cars thing - it's actually a surprising amount of fun and it's made me drive different cars which I wouldn't have bothered with. Thank goodness you can set the difficulty to Amateur though :-)

I'd definitely be into racing a league as long as I can race something about as quick as the alfa. I'd even race in a ford cortina league.

But really I wanna race the Alfa.

I love the sound of the thing.

And yes Growler - racing with real people is a major part of the fun. I wouldn't still be doing this if it wasn't for the fine racing with a bunch of other car sim addicts.

But even with the best company I'm not driving in a league with just minis or that silly fiat :-)
