All those intending to participate PLEASE read the GPL Recommended Driver Behaviour Guide. (Reproduced at KiwiSim by kind permission of its author Phillip McNellry.

It covers the areas of corner rights and contested passes in detail and is a must read IMHO.

ty agent, I was just finding that link myself...

The key concept in my mind is driving like gentlemen. (and ladies if sandy has a go).
and as its my league then Ill decide who was the gentleman.

I REALLY dont want to get bogged down in rules again. I just want some nice fair close racing. So thats it for rules for now. lets just go to it and do it (next thursday). The mod is great, the drivers are one and all a pretty sensible lot with an interest in GPL (just what I wanted) so it should be all good. Im working out a good interesting list of tracks to try over the weekend. I intend at this stage to only have ONE original track.

and if you want a head start (tho Im not confirming this yet) try Montlhery. Its such a surprising track its almost worth a try.

and yes vandem, I agree with your track ideas 100% but might try a few others. they have to be good for that close fair racing tho as a priority.

Montlhery 66?

P.S. OzRaces starts again next Thurs, at 8:30 PM AEST which is currently 10:30 NZT, so just after the races that we are planning here. They will use GPL 69, fields last season ranged from 8-12 drivers, you are welcome to join in if you want, see the link a couple of posts above.

LOL, I guess this game is starting to show its age.

1st attempt to run game caused instant CTD.
Solution: use a monitor that supports the 640x480 game menu resolution :D

Game appears to run fine on my computer (with the monitor)

Put me down on the list, If ya trust me driving ;)

ok, but have you installed the all-in-one patch. I run the game at 1280 x 1024 on an LCD screen no problems.

Murphy, Ive seen you run in nascar. Can you hold yourself back and NOT lunge into corners to pass?
You have to commit to running these cars safely and sensibly. OK?

All sorted now, was just the first load up, till I upped the res to one that my LCD supported.

Let me reserve judgement on that until I've tried it with a bit more wing. Nasty running 4/2 and car was way too loose really for confident passing maneuvers let alone consistent laps.

Are we going to have a list of tracks so we can start practising?
And why are we only having one of the originals?

yes we are (ill be publishing this weekend)

and
why only 1 original
1. coz I want to try some good alternatives
2. coz I believe some players will be using the demo of GPL.
3. Im just tired of the old tracks

I mean look at them:
Kyalami: Ok but very well known and boring landscape
Monza: utterly boring
Mosport: Difficult for most and lacks pizzaz in the monotone greeness
Monaco: too tight and twisty just yet
Nurburg: too long and twisty
Silverstone: Its on a flat airfield, nuff said
Spa: too long just yet
Rouen: possible, has variation
Zandvoort: possible but bland landscape
Watkins Glen: too simple

Have I missed any?

Lets try some new ones, it evens it out also as everyone will have to start from near scratch.

at the moment my list includes
Ardmore, Levin, Brands Hatch 67, Crystal palace, Goodwood, Willow Springs, Montlhery, watkins Glen 48, Rouen, Cadwell park, pebble beach, Falkenbergs, Schottenring and Reims

If you have any other alternatives Im keen to try them.

At the moment, my best lap at Montlhery is a 2:30.088 in a 69Brabham, with a 4/5 Wing combo, and a top speed of 294.67kph

Mexico?
If you have any other alternatives Im keen to try them.
Here are some of my favourites:
Solitude - Very scenic and generally balanced track
Bremgarten - Nice track bit need to be careful in some places
Lemans - Probably too long for most
Thornham circuit - road course. Good if you get it right
Janakkala - nice but too long. Similar to the ring
Beal Vally - Very fast sweeping, up and down track
I do have around 64 tracks but there are a heap more out there.

Growler.

is that the demo released in 2004 (I think) or the original?

Check the race sim central GPL forum for advice on demo maybe.

Thanks for all your help Famin. _b
Found a post at RSC. Just needed to add an "Export" folder in GPLDemo folder and all is peachy.

Now just gotta get a handle on these beasts. ;p
