NZrFL:20- Round 7 - SANDOWN - 26th June
Sandown Racecourse was first built as a horse racing facility, dating back into the 19th century, but closed in the 1930s in a government run rationalisation program.
Redevelopment began not long after World War II. A bitumen motor racing circuit was built around the outside of the proposed horse track (which was not completed until 1965)
and was first opened in 1962 and held the race which became the Sandown 500 for the first time in 1964.
Night Format
7:30pm - Official practice begins
8:30pm - Round Qualifying
8:45pm - Race 1, 20mins No pit-stops
9:15pm - Race 2, 40mins with 1 Compulsory pit stop (You have to change all 4 tyres) CP to be taken between laps 7 and 30
Tyre choice is open.
Qualifying Format
This will be a 10 Minute open session, so other cars will be on track.
However you are limited to 2 flying laps only, meaning 4 laps total. An out-lap, your 2 flying laps and your in-lap. If you exceed this limit you will be at the back of the grid, no excuses
Also with this type of qualifying, when someone is on a flying lap they are not obliged to get out of the way, so please judge the amount of room you will need to complete a fast lap cleanly
Other Info
Damage - 81%
Fuel & Tyres - Normal
All needed files are in the first post of the main league thread.
There are ways to gain time by cutting the track to get a cleaner faster run, especially at TURN 7. The red area is a NO_DRIVE area.
The Crash Committee will look at this through the replays and if they see blatant offenders the Crash Committee will DQ you from that race, or hand out a penalty.
For simplicity, stay on the track.
Refer the below pic for the NO_DRIVE area at TURN 7 under race conditions.
As usual, keep 2 wheels on the track at all times.

So just the orange area we can't drive in? The green area to the left is ok?
Looking forward to Sandown, its a really nice flowing track and should be some close racing!

Well .... R1 was a forgettable experience in yet again having no grip in these things if the setup is slightly off ..........
New setup for R2 and a great start put me far higher up the order than I'm used to, and I was on the pack pace for once. Of course I blew that we a bit a of overspeed coming into the pits and had to do it again ..... still, happy overall!

Re: NZrFL:20- Round 7 - SANDOWN - 26th June
No worries buddy, I was trying to keep a head of Vilking who pipped me in the first race, by the time I got going again he had whipped passed like an Aussie in for a free drink. We seem to be relatively close and it is normally a mistake from one that lets the other passed. Better than racing by yourself.
Looking forward to seeing the hot laps, and finding where I am dropping my time. Still a consistent 2 seconds off the pace. You guys must have cat like reactions, drink too much coke, or take speed to go that fast

Crap! I was hoping you didn't lose a spot Send the CC account a protest if you want, it was stupid of me.
I didn't expect to close up on you so quick through the corner.
I was pushing hard as Hugh was making good ground on me, and I was trying to hang onto 3rd place. I had driven to hard and cooked the tyres to early and was struggling.

Is that another way of saying I drive like a Nana!Riftcreator wrote:I didn't expect to close up on you so quick through the corner..
No protest required, just a racing incident. Clearly a place where I was losing a lot of time.
