2012 Enduro league, Monza 1.2hrs, Tues 31st July

Post by vandem » Mon Jul 30, 2012 6:36 am

The first race of the 2012 enduro series is at Monza (Brianza), a track that has hosted long distance prototype and GT races since 1963.

This will be a 1.2 hour race. After the 1.2 hour time is reached, whe winner will receive the chequered flag at the end of their current lap. This could mean that some drivers could posisbly do almost two full laps after the 1.2 hour mark.

Mod and track info in this thread: http://www.kiwisimracing.net.nz/forum/v ... =4&t=18198

This is a day race, so headlights are not necessary.

edit:
We are using the normal enduro format of taking grid times at the end of a 8:00 - 8:30 warmup session, then a short warmup, then race start around 8:40.

Har Har ;p

A 72min race is going to be hard work around Monza with the LMP1 cars being so much faster than GT1.
Might be a good idea if the LMP1 guys ran with headlights on. Sulley did on a praccy night and it did help.

3 USB extension cords later, yep all seems to work, cockpit now in kitchen and pc in lounge after house move.

Just need long stereo headphones cables, to connect headphones with butt kicker to soundcard.

Wireless USB headphones are a good standby

Well done all, some clean driving.

I'm pleased to have finished, first rF race for many months but didn't get much practice, too busy with work and home stuff, and I'm no good on modern-style kerbs ... Sorry to bk for early bump, thought you were too far back and I took my normal line. Would have been closer to Gordon and bk in final stint if I hard remembered to turn off damage repair. o_O

Reminder that you can swap between classes for the next race if necessary, but can only use 1 car type per class.

No worries vandem... I had stuffed up the corner and was trying not to hit you!

Enjoyed the night overall, even got my "being passed" move down-pat so as not to lose too much time. I spent most of the time trying to catch Gordon and Vandem which gave me a challenge from the back.

Well done to the winners.

Was an odd night for me....

I the practice my brake pedal died... it was either on or off, mostly off.... So i quickly remapped the clutch pedal as brake which made for some interesting footwork!

I wasn't doing to badly untill about 45 min in when i thought i hit brakes following a lmp car in the right hander before the finish straight, relaised i had the wrong pedal and spun off when i quickly changed pedal. Luckily not to badly damaged.

Sadly later on i blew the motor on the same corner... i though i was braking so i started dropping through the gears.. didn't notice i had the wrong pedal again till i saw flames and fire out the bonnet...

I will see what I can do for the next round.... wonder if the wife will notice a shiny new set of clubsport pedals?

Nodnerb, whats your best deal :)
..... and once a week there is race night! ....

Thanks Fellas, it was a fun night.

I only tried the Audi an hour before the race because I saw Iceman putting in some 1:33's on the server the night before. Anyway on my first flying lap on high fuel I was 1.2 seconds faster than before.....So that was that, Audi it is!
This has to be the best mod I have tried as far as the stock setup's go, all the cars I have tried feel great with the standard setup and also manage the tyres nicely. I was very happy for that! A bit of gearing and brake balance and I was away.

After so long away from racing I decided before the race that I would just take it easy, settle into a comfortable pace and be there at the end. I expected Iceman to run away with the win after seeing his pace before the race, not sure what happened to him early on?

Stoked to grab a win :)

A big thanks to all the GT1 drivers for making it easy for the P1 cars to come through.

Cheers
sin

Just to let you know that you scared the crap out of me a couple of times 8o... that Audi is sooooo quiet and when your zoning out on the track, to see another car flying past wakes you up quickly :D

First post on this forum, had a slightly more eventful night last night than I hoped for I gotta say.
Inadvertantly managed to grab reverse when the lights were on, I don't show the onscreen steering wheel or any other information most of the time (less distractions), but needless to say I went backwards at the start, not just the metaphorical bad start sort of backwards either, and unfortunately ploughed into the front of Hardman's (I think) car. Anyway, naturally I had some rear damage and ended up losing the back on the exit of Ascari, therefore had to pit to repair.
From then on the only thing to do was go for it but there was no chance of catching MrSinista. As he mentioned, lapping GT1 cars was a breeze, actually fun I reckon :)
Absolutely chomping at the bit for Le Mans now.

Welcome Iceman.

Have you used the Virtua LM tracks before? They're beauties. We used Le Mans 77 and 79 versions in previous enduro seasons.

I still remember my first rF le mans 2.4 hr race. Racing in the dark is special, trying to keep your car in one piece without dropping too much pace. Then the return of daylight is a big relief, and you can turn your attention to who you are actually racing.
