NZrFL:21 - ROUND 7 - Kiwipark 2nd Oct

Post by BK » Wed Sep 26, 2012 9:08 pm

Image

Kiwipark is a sort of tribute to New Zealand Icons from the past and present.(Bring back Georgie Pie)
Located north of the South Island and south of the North Island, this track can be found bathed in liquid sunshine that flows from the west when a winter southerly blows. Some say 4 seasons in one day, others bring you the weather from the satellite jigsaw but at least you won't spend six months in a leaky boat.

Night Format

7:30pm - Official practice begins
8:30pm - Round Qualifying
8:45pm - Race 1, 12 laps
5 min break
9:15pm - Race 2, 12 laps - reverse grid start
5 min break
9.45pm - Race 3, 12 laps - start based on finishing places in R2

Qualifying Format
This will be a 10 Minute open session, so other cars will be on track. There is no limit on laps done within the 10 minute time frame.

Other Info
Damage - 80%
Fuel & Tyres - Normal
Mechanical - Normal (Remember: in the red = eating engine life)
Fuel Usage - x1
Tyre Wear - x1

There are ways to gain time by cutting the track here, the Crash Committee will look at this through the replay's and if they see blatant repeat offenders the Crash Committee may impose penalties or even DQ you from that race . For simplicity, through all corners keep 2 wheels on the race track.
(The ripple strips/curbs are NOT the race track)

WARNING - Keep out of the sand traps... you'll need a more than a spade to help you out! }8D

All needed files are in the first post of the main league thread.

Starting to get the flow of this track. I still find the right hander sweeper before the pit exit the hardest to get right at speed.

Turn in too early and you lose speed on the exit, turn to late and your playing in the sand >_<

above all this is still a great track... could be cursing it race day though :p

I'll be on this afternoon for some laps.

Will be absent tonight but back for Teretonga, T1 in the Alfa will be great fun. Would be even more fun if I can load some bricks into the "boot" of Yoda's Dino so I can keep up down the straight ...

Might be able to claw some points back on you now. Hopefully it will come down to a last round, last race, last lap decider

Just took a break from work to check results site, congrats on 5th in race 2, finished ahead of Sulley _b

But smaller fields tonight mean you did comparatively better than I did at the round that you missed. To beat you I think I need to finish about 3 spots ahead of you at every race at Teretonga  , or rely on a retirement. Hmmm, if you were on my outside at the final turn, and I gave you a little nudge into the gravel, you could destroy your engine trying to get out ... }8D

Try looking at the replay not the results site, or better yet turning up to race, before commenting :ffs:

Absolutely no practice before last night and it showed :D I spent all night trying to figure out the right line through a couple of the corners.
Thanks to BK for that setup for race 3 - it was a lot more stable over the crests than what I was using - I have no clue about setups :D

Enjoyed the racing last night even though the feilds were small.

Managed to keep on the track for race 1 and 2 but had a couple of brain fades in race 3 and mowed the grass for a bit :larf:

A pitty the engine let go in R2 Danman. I was struggling to get around you and the battle was good.

Last round next week... see you there

:ffs: !?

Was trying to make the point that Yoda's speed and consistency has improved since the first couple of rounds. Used your name as a comparison as you're in the same type of car.

No need for this in the public forum guys.

I think things have gotten out of hand by a very innocent comment but ends now. :)

Great to see that my name has inspired a certain amount of "passion" in fellow drivers. I think my position had more to do with the fact that it was difficult to pass in the Dino and everything else seemed to have good traction out of the corners (not sure what gear ratio you were running Sulley, would love to find out). Plus for the first time with a reverse grid I didn't make any blinding dumb arse mistakes. And actually lead for two laps (Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee).

I didn't think the racing would be quite that close for me considering the track, but I managed to keep up with Gordon, MMJ and BK at times. Disappointed with the last race as I must have badly over rev'd the engine at some stage and had to nurse the car home. After I crossed the finish line I stopped and tried to spin the car around. The engine immediately died, so I didn't have much left in the end.

Oh yeah, what is the plugin or whatever that tells you how much engine life you have?
