As we've just run a Le Mans enduro, and I'm sure at some stage we'll run a Simdy race we can complete the real life triple crown set and run a Monaco GP.

Mod - Formula BMW. This mod comes with multiple years, if possibly we'll limit this down to the year 2005
Track - Monaco

Race Details
40 Laps
2 x Fuel
4 x Tyres
Flag Rules - Black, Blue and Local Yellow (No Safety Cars)
Damage - 10%
Mech Failures - Normal
Time Simulation - x 1
Weather - Dynamic - Details below
Type of Start - Standing

Race Night Details
Date - Tuesday 7th May
Official Practice - 8:00pm
Qualifying - 8:30pm - 20 minute fully open session (unlimited laps)
Race - 9:00pm
No compulsory pit stops, but you will need to have at least 3

Voice comms
All racers will be required to be on Discord. If you are joining the discord for the first time you will need permissions to be added, let me know your Discord name and I can do that (If possible please match your Discord name to your rFactor2 name)

Weather
We will be running scripted weather, there is a good chance of some rain at some point during the race.

As the setups people using should high downforce anyway, the setup changes needed between wet and dry should be minimal.

Other Points to note
The cars do not have a pit lane speed limiter

Pit lane entry and exit can be awkward, please let people know over discord when you are entering\exiting the pits.

Fuel and Tyre's are done at the same time during pit stops

The tyre wear is set very high, because these cars are very easy on their tyres

Definitely keen for this one!

Edit: With rain being a possibility - does anyone know how you tear off your visor strips if they get all wet?

Update: The visor strips seem to change automatically in the rain. I was just doing some laps on the server, when the weather changed from sunny to a drizzle to bucketing rain over the course of a few laps. It was really cool to see how the normal tires still had quite some grip in the drizzle but as the rain intensified, the grip rapidly disappeared and a quick dive into the pits to change to the wet tires (the P-something tires), which had a lot more grip. However you still need to dramatically alter your braking points and corner entry angles or you just slide into the barrier. This is going to be a lot of fun!

Had a play last night, when it was a drying track.

Something to note, the tyre wear model isn't great with the slicks on the damp track.

So if you wheel spin (on a slick on a wet track is easy to do) it seems to 'class' the wheelspin as the same as on a dry track, meaning an increase in tyre wear compared to what you'd expect in that scenario.

Also the wet Tyre (as Erik correctly pointed out the P tyre) is far superior on the even slightly wet track.

Given the track and it being a one off race, should it not be in the dry?

Save the random moistness for a league?

Given the length of the race (40 laps) and the relatively benign little Formula BMWs, I think some rain is going to make it a lot more interesting. I'm quite keen to give it a go.

An unfamiliar open wheel car, on a narrow track, in the rain? What could possibly go wrong?

I think I'd prefer to keep the weather for a couple of reasons

1) It's essentially a fun race, so if it fails miserably we don't ruin a league race.
2) Even though it's Monaco, the damage is extremely low, so any negative effects on that front are reduced.

Is there any particular reason I cannot setup more than 1 stop as part of my pit strategy?

Congrats on the win Riven!

I really enjoyed - fun little car on a tough track.

The dynamic weather was almost perfect, in hindsight if the track was hotter (or track progression turned up) we would've had a more pronounced dry line which would have made the final tyre choice more interesting.

Haha, good fun.

Thanks for the tyre pressure tip :D

That was good fun,I looked at the replay again and I cannot believe I managed to pip Danman for 4th place by crossing the virtual finish line in the pit by just a hair length!

I think we both may had overlooked that it was indeed the last lap already - I was thinking we still had at least 1 additional lap to go and I didn't have the fuel for that. But in hindsight I could have stayed out and make it to the finish line (just!).

I certainly was struggling with the setup. While I had been much faster in practice, I think I had the steering lock to open , resulting in me scrubbing and essentially destroying my front tires in all the corners. When I gave it the beans, I was shredding at least 30% of my fronts each lap, resulting in me being pretty much on the rim within 5 laps or so!
