Nascar League - Season 4
Nascar League - Season 4
No time for a cup of tea Wednesdays aren't waiting for anyone
so it's time to start planning for the next league.
We need one or two more that last season on the Committee
We also need to find some new tracks and get tracks without black flag bugs,
we need to refine the set of rules.
Do we race trucks or cars ? :P Who should be on the league committee ?
We also need to find any sponsors so we can paint them on all the skins we do, and create billboards for tracks
I'm also keen to be on the race committee again.

I voted for trucks. We have ran 3 seasons in trucks and look at where we are now. I believe if we run cars, there will be a learning curve all over again for some drivers. I see the numbers all ready and I think the reason for the requested change is because drivers are starting to get bored with trucks.
I would be for a short test season with no sponsors to find out if we as a league can handle the cars. As a sponsor of a league, I would not want the races to full of wrecks. Some may think we have that now with trucks, but I believe we have come a long way since season 1.
Track selection can be deteremined once we make a determination on how long of a season we should have. I believe the 12 week season was just about right, not to short and not to long.
Just my 2 cents worth.
And I have no problem being on the committee again.

I vote trucks too - better the devil you know
I was also going to suggest a short 3 race tryout with full damgage and yellows, just to see how much other fun can be had, so it's less of a dodgems race. I've raced that with AI (which like other self fufillment is never quite as satisfying) so would be keen to try it out.
My other suggestion (nag nag nag) is setup an email weekly thingy, as it's pretty obvious that not every driver who registers and races actually visits these forums. That way, news, new skins, etc can be told to everyone, once, rather than hoping people visit here 1st. I'm happy to help out with that with my GMail newsletter pgm I use.
12 races seemed a good season length, which took a shade under 3 months to complete.
Track selection seemed a good choice before - super speedways, short ovals, road, etc.

I voted for cars for a change but I'll race either
I would be available to help organise
My thoughts on tracks are here
http://www.simcentral.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?t=287
To condense my thoughts, I believe we should race on Superspeedways, medium sized and small Speedways that are wide enough to allow for "crash avoidance", this is to stop races being decided by the outcome of crashes and not "racing".
I think we have come a long way in the last year and regarding sponsers and paintschemes we should be putting a more professional appearance to interested onlookers, mostly due to Proms brilliant movies.
So carrying on from what bazzil mentions, I think we should be heading towards
1 We should have a league logo
2 All cars or trucks must carry the sponsers name and league logo
3 All tracks to have the sponsers names or logos on track
4 Standardised number sizing and placement??
I can help out in this department
Put these together and we would have a great "looking" league

Good effort on the suggestions guys. I believe we also need some drivers to help with the weekly race reports. I for one will volunteer to do a couple.
I'm easy on trucks or cars. I would like to know if teams will be 4 or 5 drivers? I think the bug has alot more to do with de-selecting tyres before you enter the pits than anything else and i would hate to see coca cola taken off the list. I had a similar drama at Talledega! Look forward to helping in anyway i can. I also look forward to forming a team to beat Dud in the next series, but first i want the team car prepared.

The cup cars are quite a bit faster, the aerowars 88 cars are about the same as trucks (edit)...also the cup cars have restrictor plates on Daytona etc (unless you get the no restrictor tracks of course)

Cars have got more power, less drag and can corner faster. They're also slightly harder to drive. Aeorwars 88 uses truck physics.mikool wrote:Whats the main differance between cars and trucks? (apart from their looks).
Trucks are getting boring, time for a change.
I'd like to keep the season at 12 races, seems to be a perfect length. Tracks were good, maybe we should look at replacing lowes and Hillside though. As there will be a few idle weeks I think It would be a good chance to run a race with yellow's, damage etc maybe next week or what ever.
Coke is a bit tedious for an enduro, spending 3/4 of the race driving in a straight line gets a bit meh, especially if you're by yourself, I'd like I't moved back to Daytona or Talladega.
Brake on the straight before it's too late.

Wood isn't those the 2 tracks you were ripped on.Wood wrote:Cars have got more power, less drag and can corner faster. They're also slightly harder to drive. Aeorwars 88 uses truck physics.mikool wrote:Whats the main differance between cars and trucks? (apart from their looks).

Had a disco at lowes, but the race was total chaos.
Hillside was just a relatively poor race for me, but once again chaos reigned.

I vote cars just for a change It'll make it a bit different on Wednesday nights
TonyG I like the second logo with the white, and the inspire logo works best on white (also the inspire logo is now a sphere )
I really don't think cars are much harder to drive than trucks at all, if you're gonna loose it, you're gonna loose it weather it's a car or a truck.
If anyone knows of anyone that would sponsor prizes for our league then do tell
