GTR league?
Is there enough interest for a few organised races then?
Obviously (unless I am sadly mistaken) Sunday evening is free.
However it does need a bit of thinking to try and even it up a little.
Like:
1. Is it possible to have fixed setups (ie: the default ones)?
2. Which class (I suggest NGTs for a first season)?
3. Which cars for which drivers? (free choice or lottery)
4. Practice limited to just 1 session, no warmup but have a qualifying?
5. Can we have a standing start or is that rolling start thing mandatory?
6. In car mandatory or any view allowed?
of these the most worrying is the car choice. I suggest we dont want fields all of the same car type, do we?
I would like to see a simple rolling over of a set roster so everyone gets 1 race in all the cars chosen. (or course some cars suit some tracks better but it would even it up a bit similar to nascar winners being forced to start at the back etc)
Notice this software http://prs.mbnet.pl/gtr/index.php
Given we can use this would it be a way to go? comments?

Re: GTR league?
I believe that with a few settings tweaks you can get the dedicated server to do standing starts. Had already mentioned this to Riven and was gonna fire him the details if I came across 'em again.famin wrote: 5. Can we have a standing start or is that rolling start thing mandatory?

Re: GTR league?
Normally it's tons of 550s and Lambos. Last night for some reason we had a bunch of Listers when hardly anyone races em usually. Very mysterious.famin wrote: of these the most worrying is the car choice. I suggest we dont want fields all of the same car type, do we?

Note that that software is already in use by Ausorc: http://www.start.ausorc.com/
and that there is an aussie V8 mod in the pipeline.:
http://www.start.ausorc.com/modules.php ... ee44125816
you have to be registered to see this thread in their forum.
and this is the link for the software: http://www.ausorc.com/user/GTR%20Stuff/GTR_V8SCC_TEST2-[V805+DDS].rar
its the old ORSM mod converted

Sadly mistaken I'm afraid. Organised Leagues and Events (Days & Times) - The very reason why I went to the effort of making the post......

Individual car skin requires that you either replace a skin ona current car, or that you create an entirely new car to add.
No fixed setups.
Standing starts are supposed to be avail somewhere.
The dedicated server can have whatever sessions and lengths you require.
The server can also restrict the racing to any 1 car of your choice, or by class.
The server is also already sending data to a site that Ron has setup. (dont recall link right now)

I would be keen if its Tuesday or Thursday nights.. No way ill be racing Saturday, and dont usually want to race Sunday.
I say limit cars by class only, and dont force people to race a particular car. NGT for the first season sounds good to me.
Standing starts if possible.
You can use TAB to see who is driving the car infront of you, doesent work in the mirror though, and I've heard with the older ISI games that this can cause lag.

Tuesday night looks free to me.
NGT would be the way to go IMNSHO, people can then choose whatever car they like. Would be great to have skins, but I'm not keen on replacing the origs with everyones fugly skins, tab view does the job. Does it really matter if you don't know who that guys is ahead or behind you?
Tabbed view works ok too, if you press both left and right view at the same time you get a reverse look in which you can see the tabs as well.
Probably more keen on two sprint races a night than one biggie.

Actually there are 3 Stockcar league nights because it is so popular it has to be spread over a series of nights.
But they got organised and the nights were free so first up best dressed I suppose.
Tuesday night is free at the moment with a very casual Nascar practice going on so that is probably the best night to choose.
I would be keen to race whatever class everyone else wants but I usually do better in the slower cars which also tends to close up the feild and make for better racing all round.

There is no reason why GTR and any other racing cannot be held on the same night.Inspector wrote:Actually there are 3 Stockcar league nights because it is so popular it has to be spread over a series of nights.

The server has no issues with this, some players might.
You could run one after the other.. there is plently of time in the evenings for this.

Well I only race in the Wednesday night Nascar so any night other than that is free for me. Weeknights are better but only because the chances are slightly higher that I'll be away from home occassionaly over some weekends.
As for league settings:
Fixed setups - I'm not sure if Riven means there is no way to force a fixed setup or if he merely doesn't want a fixed setup. I'm not fussed either way cos I just use the defaults anyway, occassionally I chuck soft slicks on for hotlapping and alter the fuel levels but that's all.
Which class? - NGTs would be a great way to start out our GTR leagues.
Which cars? - A tuffy. I really can't see a fair way of rotating cars given the differences between tracks. Having all the same would be dull. I know some of us are worried about the Ferraris so perhaps we could leave it open and see what cars everyone chooses (when we get round to a full GT league that is) before making any draconian decisions. I for one love the Lister and find I can't even drive the silly Ferrari anyway.
Practice - One practice session is more than enough, qualifying I can take or leave, random grids might be fun.
Standing start - This would be cool if we can do it cos I hate that rolling start thing.
In car mandatory view - No, please no. I use the bonnet cam to drive mostly.
Other stuff:
Skins would be cool but not if they stuff up the existing cars.
Race length and pitstops? Possibly getting ahead of ourselves here but having a compulsory pit would be nice and race length, jeez, dunno. 25 laps?
Oh and X20 is only allowed to drive the Lotus.

Re: GTR league?
Don't really see a problem here, back in GPL days the Lotus was the fastest but we had quite a mixed grid. If we go NGTs I think most people will go either RS or 360.famin wrote:of these the most worrying is the car choice. I suggest we dont want fields all of the same car type, do we?
