NZNL - Race 7 - Riki Speedway
Riki Speedway
Riki Speedway
What can we say about this track that is good? Turn 1 is slick if you take the wrong line. Pit Entry and exit are dodgy. And finally Daniel Wood gets to qualify for his 2nd race of the race, so this can only mean trouble for the rest of the drivers.
We are halfway through the season and there is no clear front runner in any area of the league, except for Rookie of the Year honors; Viking. Viking has been one of the main components to Team Vodas success. The only thing we know for sure is that there are some drivers who need to lift their game and bring their driving standards to what is expected. If they fail to do so, they may find themselves running with the rookie’s or no place to run at all.
Pit exit will be on the backstretch and pit entry will be determined before the race with a beautiful illustration from one of the committee members.
Please remember Riki is a fast track and you will need to plan ahead when you see an accident, the first thought that should enter your mind is that you should lift your foot off of the accelerator.
Not let the fun name calling begin and lets leave it all on the track.

Odie. Any chance of getting that pitting demo as a replay sometime today/early tomorrow so everyone has a chance to see what is an exceptable point to pull off and get some practise at it.
Cop: Are you OK?
Randolph: I don't know. I'm kinda ****ed up in general, so it's hard to gauge.

Here is a screenshot.
The committee is anticipating some comments, boith positive and negative with this decision and we do welcome all of your comments, but we would like them done so with respect. The committee also understands that the yellow dotted line is between turns 3 and 4, but we have been receiving replays that involve dodgy pit entries, so we have decided that all drivers wiil enter the pits along the same line. This will be determined track by track. We also are aware that this decision may not hold well with some, but if everyone is pitting off the same turn or straight, then there should be no problem.
What we are asking for is that you pit prior to turn 3 and if you chose to pit off of turn 4 or in the middle of 3 and 4, you will receive a 50 point penalty.

Dont forget theres a dodgy spot in the trioval (It bit me in the practice race), me thinks ya need to run a high or low line to avoid it. It makes ya snap loose, and carnage ensues.
Was re-equainted with it when practicing the other day.

After seeing the pic of the PIT ENTRY, I thought I had a different track . . until I realized that I run with less trackside objects . . . so on my screen I don't even SEE the billboards on the inner track area.
So . . . that means that cars will be entering the apron (to pit) along the same small(ish) straight that cars will be exiting the pits ?
Hmmmm . . . . so if there are cars racing two-wide, plus some cars trying to pit, and some cars wanting to exit . . . . will be "very interesting".

While having the standard rule of all pit entry begins on the back straight for all races, the question is will this change the behaviour of drivers with late pit entry ?
A late pit entry here, will cause a driver to lose 50 points . But now we're forcing pit entry just before a flat corner, and anyone going too fast will drift up and cause major tears - something we're trying to avoid when people do late pit entries ??
My 2c worth, but which is better : have a difficult / modified pit entry each race, or just hard slam dunk those drivers who make dangerous pit entries ?
This track is tricky for Nascar with the dings too - something that there'll be a few of ! and lots of parking on the roof happened when we just practised this circuit before.
On another side, my only other suggestion for the rule book is the 3 strikes and you're out rule. 3 protests on the same behaviour on 3 races and suspension for 1 race happens. So if for example I have 3 successful protests against me for dangerous pit entries, I should be suspended for 1 race. That way, overall behaviour hopefully can be improved, rather than penalising people over and over again for the same actions, just in different races.

This time less at the people who hit me!
Better not follow DAZA if he starts going wide in the corner or again I will be worse off!
Have fun tonight everyone

FYI...the committee is in discussion of not have a mandatory pit entry spot for this race, and decision will be made before the race and posted here, stated in Ventrillo and also postd in race chat.
Prom...you suggestion is a good one (i.e. 3 succesful protest), but it may seem that even the standard weekly decisions by the committee; some drivers are not getting the idea that they need to lift their game a bit and re-evaluate their driving style for the better of the league.

I dont think last minute changes benefit anyone......changing the pit entry rule within minutes of race start is just going to cause more accidents if people have not had time to practice.odonohuesp wrote:FYI...the committee is in discussion of not have a mandatory pit entry spot for this race, and decision will be made before the race and posted here, stated in Ventrillo and also postd in race chat.
