NASCAR Race Wed 27th ?
Is there any interest in a race this Wednesday 27th ?
It'll be a Wednesday, no league up yet = I'll be shuffling aimlessly around the house, not knowing what to do with my time.
And how about something different. Yellows and damage on around Chicago ? ? ?

A damage on race would be a bit of fun.
If yellows are on I suggest a 10-15% race distance if the usual crowd show. A 45% distance race could well go for 3hrs with all the time that will be spent under yellow. No one would ever do it again
30+ people with yellows and I think I'll find something else to do. Or at least bring a book to read.

Cop: Are you OK?
Randolph: I don't know. I'm kinda ****ed up in general, so it's hard to gauge.

Well a shorter distance does sound interesting.
One reason I thought of Chicago is that even with a little damage, you don't lose too much pace. Unlike a superspeedway like Talladega, where damage = walking speed.

The hard core league was good while it lasted with damage and yellows on. The races were supprisingly clean - I think we even had one race with no yellows! Of course the fact that there were only 8-10 cars on track probably had a lot to do with it!
I think damage and yellows with the usual number of drivers could be... interesting
Sounds like fun

would this race include rookies or is it only for the main league drivers?

Come on Happy, you know the real reason that Team Dud is anti-damage and anti-yellows is b/c you guys are afraid of another team actually beating you in the team points. With the yellows you guys can't use your plan of pushing under in the turns and getting way out ahead of everyone. B/c the yellows will keep the others close and then you might just get out raced. No I'm just talking junk to hype of next season. At least you guys still are a team!!Happy wrote:Moderate damage and no yellows I think. If we turn on yellows and have the usual crowd, the whole race will be under yellow >8p

with a non-points nothing counts race, what better oportunity than to crank out a damage with yellows race
So it might go a bit pear shaped (which it most likely will) but then we can say at least we tried it on the 27th of July 2005

We had 5 yellows (with 6 drivers) in a race on a short track at 25% distance and it took an hour and a half if I remember correctly. Do you still want to be racing at between midnight and 1am?TonyG wrote:Should be a bit of fun, we could start a bit earlier, say 9.00 and run 40%, shouldn't make it too bad?

Leave the yellows off. We are talking about a non points race, people don't concentrate as much, we are expecting rookies to turn up and race.
When someone has had a crash, yellows or not, there will be cars that are not up to scratch, they'll keep spinning out because of stuffed tyres or worse still will have under powered or stuffed handling and they will start getting in everyones way and then we have more crashes and yellows.
I am happy with the same format we do now with damage on. I am willing to take the risk that my car might be stuffed or off pace in the first lap, after all it is a friendly trial run (i.e. no points at stake) but I'm not going to waste another evening driving round behind the pace car like every other time we have done this. Some of us have improved but some haven't, it is not worth the risk.

I'd love to be able to race with yellows on but I honesty think it's a waste of time if anyone other than the top 15-20 drivers are to be involved.
