I have recently returned to playing racing games and am looking for a game that has a decent online following. Preferably something closer to a racing sim than arcade. Ideally the game would have a reasonable number of players 24/7 or at least in NZ evenings and weekends.
I've been playing NFS:World, but it's _very_ arcade and I'd prefer something without traffic or other players throwing bombs at you. I like to race
What do people here play online? Are there many games where I can expect to get decent racing whenever I feel like playing?

Your best to start here mate http://www.kiwisimracing.net.nz/forum/v ... =4&t=16307
We mostly use rFactor at the moment and there are a few playing iRacing. We talk about arcade games, but as a rule we focus on sims.
We are looking at a new league next month, a short one before xmas.
If you have or get a copy of GT Legends that would be very helpful as we have used the Historix mod for rFactor a number of times and may do so again. This mod requires you to have the aforementioned GT Legends disc to install it.

IIRC there is also a GTL disc bundled with some releases of GTR2. Trademe and Mighty Ape are probably your best local sources.Sulley wrote:...If you have or get a copy of GT Legends that would be very helpful as we have used the Historix mod for rFactor a number of times and may do so again. rFactor does have a lobby system and there are some open servers, but for regular action you're best to join a league (s), means that you get regular racing with 20 - 30 car fields.
There are also several Aussie leagues using rFactor if KSR race nights don't suit and you don't mind finishing around midnight - http://www.onlineracingaustralia.com, http://www.asrg.org, http://www.xgn.com.au. Some of them also run interesting one-off events.

Thanks for the responses. I will check out rFactor and see how it goes. I'm mostly after a game I can race casually in the evenings than an organised league, but I'll take whatever I can get.
