That's mean.

My Dad's mate has a marathon boat with a (i think) 454ci big block in it and he just says "If i see rocks i just decelerate abit skim over them and back hard on the gas again"Shane[] wrote:That's mean.

The reason for decelerating is to avoid sucking rocks into the jet unit.

Most of the boats are designed to be able to skim over rocks etc especially in the low water areas.
Cept for those big boulders, you cant exactly skim over them :P

If you decelerate on these boats the boat drops in the water and will hit the rocks more...2LO wrote:"If i see rocks i just decelerate abit skim over them and back hard on the gas again"Shane[] wrote:That's mean.

Its hard to explain how they pick there lines but the short answer is experiance and knowing how to raed the water...
They do take quite a few hits at time but that is par for the course just steer clear of the big ones
100mph on water feels a lot faster then on land

Coming off waterskis behind a boat going 50km/h as you swing out wing and come hurtling through the wake is scary enough (maybe 80km/h).......
I could only imagine what waterskiing behind something going that fast would be like!

The jet units have a grill that stops the bigger stones from going through...
The bottom sections of the boats are made of a thicker alloy and also can be lined with bizalloy or UMHW plastic sheet
