Ggav's first real life track drive
I don't think I've ever posted the link to this video from 2 years back, just watched it again for inspiration
video is of my first time ever driviung on a track.
1985 Toyota MR2 AW11 running the Late model engine 260hp+
edited out first 2 laps which were a bit boring
started to get damp / drizzling after few laps and i came back in then 2nd run manifold gasket blew out.
have since driven / broken / competed a few club events (lol at grasskahna in this )
all without video.
cars now got semi slicks (was on nankangs at the time) and planning on returning to pukekohe soon

You put a 3SGTE in an AW11?!Ggav wrote:1985 Toyota MR2 AW11 running the Late model engine 260hp+
You mad bastard! lol
They were lethal enough in the SW20s which had the suspension and weight balance to handle it!

Theres a AW11 here in chch running a 4AGTZE 20V setup putting out 410hp ATW, that would be a beast! Considering my 4AGZE 16 Valve is bad enough how it is

Loose the Z when you turbo the GTZ engine , also chuck a bigger crank pulley on yours and then see how much your smile incrasesBull wrote:Theres a AW11 here in chch running a 4AGTZE 20V setup putting out 410hp ATW, that would be a beast! Considering my 4AGZE 16 Valve is bad enough how it is
Maddest thing I've seen is a worked 2jz in a kp60 startlet , also seen a build where a guy had a 1UZ, and was twin-turboing it (kp60 as well)
That mr2 looks as though it could haul some serious arse Gav

Re: Ggav's first real life track drive
Awesome Huge! What engine were you running? a SW 2.0L Turbo?
I try and get out on the track as much as possible, last time was at Levels and had massive fun. But got some work to do on the front end before I head out again. Some princess 4pots have been purchased
My old girl in action taking the hairpin at Levels. Was talking to some random guy at the track and made a comment I should give drifting a go in the old girl, as a joke. He told me "you can't drift one of those old shitters" so went out to prove him wrong Wasn't easy though, needs more power

Na, the MR2 is only my daily car, no need to spend more money then the fuel that goes in it lol.
Nice drift Rift, I think it needs a few more cylinders tho lol

Hey Ggav. I see you were doing some grass gymkhana stuff over at Glen Road. Are you part of the Auckland car Club as well?
I've done crap loads of gymkhanas there over the years.

Re: Ggav's first real life track drive
Thread revival
finally got around to going back to the track.
Did a 1:12 back in 07 so wanted to better that by going under 1:10.
Started off the day on low boost to gauge cooling etc, which turned out to not be great.
Managed to get a few fast laps in. and then wind up the boost at end of day for that sub 1:10 watch the vid and see how that turns out
