Great find Ryan mate . I remember driving all the way to Te Marua to watch the final night, what a long bloody night and I remember that run-off.
Actually I pinched one of the Tandem Family Speedway signs promoting the event on my way home off the power pole and it still hanging in my garage today

TBF, rolling starts would almost help avoid some of the turn 1 carnage. The cars will be slightly more spaced apart and the disadvantage for missing the start is reduced slightly therefore lowering the passing opportunities very early on that would usually cause issues. But then again, if something did happen with rolling starts in this age, the speed could make it much worse.

Standing starts are better and more fair for the drivers (means the grids at championships actually mean something not how much you can anticipate the green). Also better for the crowd. Anyone who has been standing from the pit viewing area at Rotovegas when 26 Superstock's start revving those V8s finding an explosion of moisture in the front side of their pants knows what I'm talking about!
Awesome video's man I watched both of them with Dads commentary naming every single driver that drove past .

Awesome find
I have plenty of old tapes around that if I knew how to put on youtube (if I was aloud from I think it was from Majic productions?)of teams racing plenty of full years including consolation races including the years Miers in the spacy with the big hit and Boote with his massive roll among others. Also have some Teams Nationals ones with the best teams race ever Tigers V Wildcats. Got the New Zealand Superstock champs in Rotorua and Huntly (Neal fire) and plenty of other Thunder Downunder tapings

Yeah I have a lot round here at home including that NZs in the link we were going to try sort out getting them on dvd and tidying up some of them.
Unfortunately when you have quite a few tapes and people borrow them / you lend them they seem to not always return so we have lost some good ones. The ones we wanted to really get sorted was the 82? teams champs and the 88? NZ's and an early or mid 90's 240s.
Hopefully I will get round to it and sort them out as there are some good ones in there.
