Yay, :D not sure I like the talk of a new chicane on back straight tho, will make for even less passing. O_o

Great to have the V8's back in NZ, although I think Ruapuna would have been a better track to host the event ;p

The V8's had been confirmed for Puke last year (Insider knowledge ;) ). And years ago there used to be a chicane down the back straight of Pukekohe...

Was the chicane good or bad? I guess the reason for the chicane is safety because of the high speed leading into the hairpin and a very small runoff. You would be pretty screwed if your brakes failed.

In last months Australian Muscle Car magazine (With the Red Brock Commodore on the front) there is an article on the 1975 Tasman Series and it shows a track map with the chicane halfway down the back straight.
(And on page 99 is a famous driver who races with us today... :larf: ).

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page and "click here for circuit proposal", it will give you the map.

I wonder how much time it will add to a lap?

I'm guessing maybe 2-3 sec, 4 at the outside?

At least it looks like the current track layout might still be usable, just like the first chicane at Monza can be skipped when they remove the temporary barriers.

Yes they are. I work with one of the main first aiders/crash crew for Puke and Hamptons and he gives me all the goss.
