V8 Supercar racing will be seen live in New Zealand after SKY Television was awarded the media rights to the Championship for the next five years, starting with six and a half hours coverage of this weekend's blockbuster Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

Well this means I'm not watching it for the next 5 years... ;(

Yeah that is bad news. I was really looking forward to this season with the new cars and manufacturers. I'm now looking into getting sky but don't know if they can do it in time. At least I would be able to watch Nascar as well.

I looked at getting sky, just for the V8's, but it's $100+ per month o_O

Guess I'll have to wait for the highlights on Youtube :(

That's the reason I don't have sky. It's too much money for the little TV I watch

Might have to watch the hoons driving around at night to get my live fix :B

I'd only want it for the V8's, so $100 a month for MySky just for that is not going to happen.
Guess I'll have to find another way to view the racing :aarr: Arrr!

Really pissed me off to be honest, the start of a new era at what I feel is one of the best tracks of the season, and we get told a week out from the start Sky have the rights. Bah!

In slightly more positive news, they do mention the puke round will be on free to air, but slightly delayed. Hopefully bathurst is as well.. Then I won't be too upset.

I found a way to watch the qualifying live for free. V8 Supercars is showing a free beta of their upcoming live streaming subscription at http://www.v8supercars.com.au/v8live/completed. When it is ready anybody in the world except NZ can subscribe. At the moment anybody in the world except for NZ can view the free beta live streaming. I was able to watch it on my Mac (hooked up to the TV) by changing the DNS server used by the network card so it thinks that I am not from NZ. I used http://tunlr.net to achieve this. The streaming was ok but not as good as SD. Hopefully V8 Supercars will improve the streaming over time, but at least we can watch it.

I'm glad Sky has finally got the rights to V8's.

Decent coverage that is basically ad free. What more could you want?

In saying that I don't have Sky. But glad it is finally going to get good coverage _b

I just wish the live streaming subscription was open to NZers too. I like the idea of the subscription and wonder if its a sport first? Wouldn't it be awesome if we could subscribe to
Nascar (or your favourite sport)? The live streaming today had no ads but who knows what the future holds.

Yes, it is a shame that most Live Streaming services that are actual good quality rather then say an 'illegal' stream off somewhere like VIPBox is pretty average.

It would be good to see a subscription based service in NZ, where you just pay for what you watch.

Acquired the full coverage from Friday and Saturday.
Qual was interesting, going to watch all the support races today and then acquire todays racing later.

Thanks Telecom for the 120gig cap.

I thought it was a lot better personally. Live Qualifying, all the support races etc covered as well and not delayed like all the coverage we got last year from TV3.

Decided to bite the bullet and get Sky.
Watched Puke on Sky and the coverage was outstanding! Well worth the money.

Got MySky + Sport for $47 per month on a deal _b _b

This weekend there is delayed coverage on Prime. Watched it last night, no qualifying though. It's on again tonight at 11:50pm.

If you haven't got it, get the Sky app for Android, it's brilliant _b

So easy to browse the listings. Then if I see something I want to watch later I just click on the listing, hit record, and it sets up the MySky at home. Remote Record is bloody magic :D
