Post by Mario-C » Wed Jul 02, 2008 9:56 am

Looking to upgrade my old crt to a nice big lcd 24 or 28
Anyone have the viewsonic and if so how do you find it.
Open to other suggestions as well.
Used for gaming only.

I'm a Samsung fan personally, am extremely happy with my computer lcd (just a mere 19" but it does the job for me) and lcd tv (with Freeview naturally). Awesome colours, sharp and crisp, black outside edging and look stylish.

I've seen the 28" Viewsonic in action ($1200 at VRC) and they look fab, but for me it's just too big.

I used Inspector's 28" monitor at our SimCentral LAN. Lets just say, I kept it for an extra week after the LAN because well, I didn't want to give it back :>

Yes the Viewsonic 28" is very nice, has HD and RCA inputs as well as VGA & DVI. The only thing I don't like about it is that it has a fixed base with no adjustment up or down. You can tilt the monitor forward and back but can't adjust the height. If I had lots of money I would trade it for a 30" Dell which is also very nice and has lots of height adjustments. Mind you the Viewsonic has a very nice price tag.

I've got one and its great. I sell them too.

The only bad thing I've found is when watching dark movies, the blacks seem to merge into one at the edges, and the contrast is not the same at all points on the screen. (mainly bad ripped movies)
But for gaming and quality blu-ray movies, it is simply awesome. 1920 x 1200 and exactly the same vertical viewable screen height as my 32" widescreen CRT TV. and all the different inputs a geek would want.

Think it has a three year warranty.
