Incase you were thinking about buying an iPhone

Post by Prometheus » Tue Jul 08, 2008 11:24 am

(hopefully not), the pricing was released today. For two years worth - the minimum you are locked into the contract :

CHEAPEST
* 8GB phone will cost you $2500 (250MB/month data plan)

EXPENSIVE
* 16GB phone will cost you $6350 (1GB/month data plan)

EXTREME EXPENSIVE
* 16GB phone will cost you $7500 (1GB/month data plan and 1GB month Vodafone mobile broadband)

Jaw dropped when I saw those numbers, but those are including data/voice/sms plans for the full 2 year contract (includes the monthly charges) as well as the fact that this is the Gen 2 iPhone with 3G and demand is going to be nuts 8o

Same phone, same systems, different providers (Australia), and the prices (converted to NZD) are FAR cheaper!!!

Would be nice if we didnt have to bend over and pass the KY to Vodafone/Telecom.

Yes but only for Gen 1 phones. The Gen 2 3G phones will not work on a prepay, even if the phone is unlocked (according to Vodafone, it's something they're doing to the technical settings and other mumbo jumbo).

Once the intial iPhone craze has ended the phone will be available on prepay for $1149

Sign up on the $6000 plan and get the phone for $199 but you are locked in for 2 years so theres no point in getting it cracked for pre pay.

What a joke there is no way those prices are relative to the rest of the world,
More miniutes, unlimited data and cheaper hmmm then we he went on about been isolated in NZ, Cambell brought up Auzzie prices which suprisingly were a lot cheaper.

Vodafone are taking advantage of been the only provider for these phones there is no way I will be buying one.

Vodafone need to wake up,

Yeah, I watched the Campbell Live thingy too Skuzz, very funny :)
But yeah, what a rip. I wasn't going to be getting one anyway so the price doesn't bother me :D

No doubt the prices will drop and we'll all be laughing at the ones who blew their dosh to get the phones early :)
