My New PC
Well I have been eyeing up the new Radeon 4800 Series cards and trying to decide when the price might come down and how long to wait to start my next upgrade. My answer came the other day thanks to Riven.
Dave called into my place on his way home the other day and showed me a pretty good deal he was looking at on TradeMe. An Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard and 2 x Asus EN8800GT's all brand new and with a buy now of $350. Well I was pretty jealous and was cursing that I didn't spot it first and Dave headed off home. About an hour later I get an ICQ from Dave saying that "she who must be obeyed at all times" could not see why he needed two graphics cards when one was doing the job now. Dave has been married long enough to know that computers & women should not be used in the same sentence and resigned himself to passing the deal to me.
So anyway, with 3 boys to try and keep up to gaming level as well as my own PC this presented itself as an opportunity to give myself a bit of an upgrade and pass my PC down to the oldest who passes his etc etc. The end result after a bit of shopping for other parts is my new PC below.
Specs:
Raidmax Sirius Case
Thermaltake Toughpower 750w PSU
Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 CPU 1333Mhz 3.16Ghz 6Mb cache 45nm
2 x 2Gb DDR2-800 Corsair XMS2 CAS4 4-4-4-12 Matched XMS2 with DHX Heatspreaders
Corsair DOMINATOR Airflow Fan
2 X Asus EN8800GT 512mb Graphics Cards in SLI Mode
Creative PCI-E X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Sound Card
Adaptec 2120s SCSI Raid Card (64mb RAM)
4 x Seagate 36gig 15,000rpm SCSI HDD's in Raid 5
Asus 20x DVD Writer
I don't have a decent camera so I took a few with my phone. The quality of the pictures don't really do it justice but I rather like the case. Overall it turned out to be a pretty cheap gaming PC.
