7950GT upgrade

Post by Sulley » Wed Oct 29, 2008 4:23 pm

I'm looking at whether a vid card upgrade would be worth the effort, I cant afford to do whole PC, it will remain a AMD 3500, 2gb RAM, .92Tb HD etc... getting games to run reasonable at 1920 x 1200 is the issue on my 24" LCD

What I wanna know is would it be worth replacing my 256Mb 7950GT with a new 9800 card or something similar..

I done some research that suggests that 9800GT 512Mb would be a reasonable improvement or a GX260 even better...

Suggestions please

Yeah, assuming you have pci-e, I'd say that would make quite a difference :)

Is your current cpu a socket AM2? If so, you could slap a newer processor in for not too much as well.

Mobo is PCI-E but dont support AM2, CPU is an original Athlon 64 3500
