dail up help

now since on dailup at the uncles place we have been having trouble to get a decent connection speed then unabe to hold the connection it just drops every time i know boardband is the way to go etc but aunty/uncle dont want to go there yet....

have rang ISP afew times they suggest this that and this but nothing really has worked

If you're out in the wops, it could well be an electric fence short causing the line to drop off - do you hear ticks or clicks on your line when you listen through the phone?

You could always try some connection strings: http://www.modemsite.com/56k/trouble2.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
sometimes if you slow the modem down it can help if your line is noisy e.g. +MS=V22 (limits modem to 24k)
Or there might even be a drop-down option in windows to slow the modem down.

Normally though you're stuffed, but anything is worth a try :)

nah bazzil we just about nearly in the middle of the town and i dont think any electic fences are near by aye i'm at the net cafe at this moment i just printed that info so i'll try things when i get home cheers budd

It's the ancient traditional method of interweb connection. But it could only support black and white pictures.

And you'd have to print out pages to view.

but I remember when I upgraded my modem from a 1200 to a 2400 D:
