Bad Pings

Post by Bull » Sun Aug 09, 2009 8:45 pm

Anyone else getting bad pings atm?

Ive noticed on Heat and rFactor pings are up around 200-250~ ish for most people, and a few have commented on it on Teamspeak, have ran Pingtests via CMD to several IPs including the InSPire servers, and most New Zealand IP's Im getting really crap Pings too, but the usual to Aus/US IP's....anyone else experiencing it, or know how to fix?

Cheers

Not me, My ISP is Telstra Clear and i'm getting ping's on Heat and rFactor of 40 maybe sub 30's if i'm lucky, Aus server ping (CoD4) 50-60ms.

It may be something going on with you ISP, But yeah as I said i'm fine _b

Pings seem alright now, and yea 2lo your ping was high like mine on COD servers too, but rFactor/COD luckily has a better netcode then Heat so we could still play them lol.

talking about pings are a waste of time.

Google and get WinMTR (unless you have Vista or Win7 - as its broke in them)

Vista/Win7 users will need to do the ole tracert option.

When things are bad do a trace route and post it here.

OK, you problem is your connection. You get ~180ms of your pings total added at your first hop, contact your ISP, or stop leeching pr0n.

Your problem is that both Telstra and Xtra come to Inspire through the same small pipe which gets filled up during the evening.

Contact your ISP and petition them to peer at WIX or APE.

This has only started happening last two days, as I use to get under 50 pings on all NZ Servers, now I get over 200 on all NZ servers :(

It was also fine during the day, you think its a possible we are getting throttled?

There was also a lil bit of lag and High Pings on the rFactor Stockcars Server tonight too

Flatmate discovered bittorrent?

Got open Wireless network that the neighbours have found? Seen some shady looking people parked across the street with a laptop?

I was on rFactor today and did the standerd ping test thing ingame, and my ping came back at 57ms. Now I know Riven has said dont bother talking about pings, But i'm on Vista and dont know what programme i could use to do the same thing Ratman and yourself have done.

Thats weird skinstad, as a couple of the people in our channel (forgot who it was) said they saw a bit of lag when watching the other cars, cars going half through each other and stuff like that.

My ping is fine during the day again :( but no doubt come race time at night itll be shocking again! Damn Internet .... Although my Speedtest results are same night or day, so I cant be getting throttled? Im not sure

Throughput (speedtest) and latency (pings etc) are two very different things.

Too many people on the same lines??
