Serious internet problems
Since about wednesday last week i've had major problems when racing etc...Pings of 400 on the server and when on Team speak packet loss is around 80.00% with pings around 400..
I need help with figuring out my connection problems...Talked to telecom they said the line etc looks fine from there end and they sent me a email telling me to do a speedtest once a day for 3 days!! then send it back..
Never had a problem with it before untill last week...Maybe my modems stuffed?? It's a DSL-504T
Any suggetions would be appreciated....Will telecom a ring again
Thanks

When i reset my net it will be sweet for about 10 minutes then i check it and its Ping 200-300 Packet loss 50-80.
Same with in the server all of a sudden it just shoots up.

Re: Serious internet problems
Hey naki,
Looks like you had the exzact problem as i did, except when i reset my modem, i was sweet for about 5 mins, then it did what yours is now doing.
In the end i went form a crappy Dynalink RTA 1320? modem to a D-Link ADSL Router. Since then have had no problems.
So yes, maybe its just your modem is stuffed, thats what i came to with mine.
Hope you get it sorted mate.

Re: Serious internet problems
Telecom should be able to supply you with a new modem and just add it to your phonebill to pay off.

Re: Serious internet problems
just talked to telecom after experiencing the same problem:
after about 5 minutes my connection to KSR servers goes from a ping of ~50ms to +200ms
this is due to traffic management on my plan even though I have no interleaving (QoS) on my connection, any data that is transferred during peak hours (9am - 2am) is subject to packet management... in other words it will sit at telecoms gateway for an extra 200+ ms just to make it impossible for us to play games that use bugger all bandwith so that other people can watch reruns of shortland street and download their fix of porn, music and movies and swap countless meaningless spam emails that use the maximum bandwith possible.
Telecom provided a solution: Change Plans!!! go from a plan subject to traffic management to a capped plan that apparently doesnt manage traffic untill you exceed your cap and then limits you to dial-up speed... woohooo that'll work Truth is capped plans are also traffic-managed. ALL data through telecom connections are. What is ridiculous is that this type of traffic management makes absoultely no sense at all. The aim of traffic management is to provide the optimum bandwidth for all users at all times when what it is actually doing is allowing people to suck up all the bandwith on downloads that don't require a decent ping rate. I can jump onto rapidshare and download 10GB of music and movies in an hour or I can jump onto heat and transfer 10MB in the same time... which activity costs telecom more? Ask yourself Telecom... bunch of muppets!
Fine... you dont want me to play heat... fine... you want me to max out my connection 24/7 downloading pirate software, movies and music... that's cool I just got a new terabyte HDD and dont know what to do with it...
wooo!!!

Yea sucks ae...They said it was my plan aswell....But what i don't get is i've never had a problem between the peak hours etc...Well yea my internet will run a little slower but my ping wouldn't change in the servers while gaming etc...
Up untill last week all of a sudden my pings goes through the roof...And this isn't during peak hours...24/7 atm...Hence why im thinking my modem has died (Had it for a little while now)

Re: Serious internet problems
Might be having the same problems as yourself and Uturn.. when connecting to an inspire server at night (usually between 7pm-10pm), ping has often been 200+ and connection terrible. Then after leaving it for a while and reconnecting to the server, the ping is back to between 30-60 like normal and connection fine. Have never had this problem until the last two weeks. ISP is Telstra Clear.Naki wrote:Yea sucks ae...They said it was my plan aswell....But what i don't get is i've never had a problem between the peak hours etc...Well yea my internet will run a little slower but my ping wouldn't change in the servers while gaming etc...

Re: Serious internet problems
Well im stumped if i know whats wrong..Over it..
Tried different modems , filters , Cords and phone points..Everything...
Talked to telecom again and all they say is everythings sweet on there end and to do the 3 day speedtest at the same time every day and send the results to them and they will ring me back....Within 3-5 working days pending on the how many people in the line
BS excuse imo so ill be ringing them again tomorrow and giving them a earfull
To me it's pointless...I do the speedtest and i'll get say 77.7kps then ill do it a minute later and get 700.0kps or whatever. Goes from one extreme to the other...

Re: Serious internet problems
thats exactly whats happening... plus I'm on an adsl2+ exchange which should have 24 Mbit/s down and 3.5 Mbit/s up but it is capped by configuration to 4.2 down and 0.8 up and if you try to enable g992.5 annex m mode it wont connect... thinking of getting in touch with the commerce commisioner guy to complain about my limited unlimited account...KSR Aaza wrote:Lol Telecom screwing round its unlimited plan customers.
