Need new Graphics Card

Post by Sulley » Mon Apr 26, 2010 11:04 am

My two year old 9800GTX is consistently overheating and falling over of late, so think its time to replace it,

Looking at Radeon 5850, what do others have in DX11 cards and what do you recommend? money is an object O_o

Currently running 2 ov these in crossfire and they certaintly gt sum grunt..

2nd option

ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GiG Gddr3 these are a excellent card for your mony good fps low power consumption and a all round great card hese you can get at a resonable price brand new from shop retail $165 These new modle cards have higher core and memory clocks then the earlier 4670s and gt easy 350 fps on rfactor _b

I just got a 5830 last week, pretty happy thus far.

Same board and cooler as the 5870 so its very BIG!! However this is good as the fan is only usually at about 60% speed due to the lesser GPU so its quiet, power consumption is also down on many of its competitors.

~$450 I think

I just bought a new PC only a few weeks old and I run a two ATI Radeon HD5770 1GB GDD5 PCI-E Video card, Dual cards Crossfire and I'm happy with the results that I see on the monitors.

Here's some links which has all the details on what the card/s can do and costs:

Hope that helps mate :D

I've not got crossfire or SLI cabable mobo so only single card solutions are viable at this stage, unless I later upgrade to a crossfire capable USB 3.0 board...

Yes I'll be ordering it online, just gotta decide which one, stock seems a bit low overall, tossing up between 5850 and 5830 at the moment, 470 and 480 too hard to get and too expensive and they run quite hot i understand

Yeah stock is on a go low at the moment for some reason, no idea why but the cards just seem real hard to source.
