Power Supply Calculator

Post by Harding Jr » Wed Dec 01, 2010 9:26 pm

From those in the know what do you r4eckon about this automated result

http://extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

I've put in everything my current computer has and what I hope to upgrade it to and it reckons I should be able to do that (although my parts are low power consumption) for under 400w of power which suits my current 420w psu.

Can others please have a test and a fiddle with this and see how accurate it is for them. Just so that I don't go buying extra bits according tot his machine to find out I need a bigger power supply when my budget has ran out.

Cheers, Harding.

Um says I only need 368W... I wouldve thought quite a bit more considering.

Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.16GHz
AMD Radeon HD 6800 Series (link doesnt have this card so used 5770 as comparison)
4gb ram

If you post up what you are putting in I would say many on here would give you an idea of what psu you would need.

Be careful using this...I used it when building my system and it told me i need a 700w power supply so brought a 750w one to be sure and turns out i really need about 1000w.
So don't take it to be absolute.
