This morning my sister knocked my external off the table and took a heavy hit on the ground and since has not worked. the light still works on the external but when i plug it in the computer dosnt pick it up anymore.
Anyone know what i can do to fix? or any places that i can get everything restored or fixed as it had over 900G worth off stuff on it including all my school projects that had to be handed in this last week of school.
Cheers

Re: External HDD help
You have a couple of options:
1. If you know how, you could take the HDD out of the case and plug it in your PC using the spare cables. This way you can also test to see if the HDD is working and not damaged.
2. You could take it to a PC repair shop (just the HDD) and ask if they could quickly test to see if the HDD is working.
If it's working then you can find extrenal cases on Price Spy for a few buck and make another external unit up, or if it's damaged then you are up for a new unit.

Re: External HDD help
I'd almost bet the usb connection on the case is damaged (Assuming it's mains powered) Same thing happened to my WD external when the 3 yearold knocked it over. HDD inside was fine.
As BK has siad, remove and test
