Im posting this on behalf of my Mother and her Partner.
Dear Kiwisimracing Members
You may have seen on the TV news in March the one in 100yr flood which flowed into our local clubrooms at a level of 1200mm. Luckily we had insurance, though not enough as is always the case, and with many volunteer man hours and the insurance we were able to completely replace the interior.
This Thursday the 26th August was to be our Grand Opening of our $250,000 refurbishment.
Unfortunately the floods returned with a vengeance two weeks ago, worse than in March and this time the interior of our clubrooms was 1600mm under water.
As you can imagine this has devastated not only our hard working committee, volunteers and players but also our community as the clubrooms was the focus for many special local events.
We are a VERY small club in the Bay of Islands known as “The Swampies” where we play true ‘grassroots’ rugby. Our club consists of one senior team and six junior teams.
We believe that we need to foster these players so that rugby survives in small towns like ours and can do so in the future.
Kaeo Rugby Club has produced one All Black, Eric Rush, and many provincial representative players over the last 90 yrs and we intend to carry on our proud heritage.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE PART OF Project ‘LIFT IT UP’?
Plans are now afoot to raise the club onto a block basement, a big job at an even bigger expense.
Our club is asking any interested companies/persons if they would like to help!
To buy and lay one block is $5.00.
With a total of 4600 blocks required.
Kaeo Rugby Club would be grateful of your help in this worthwhile club and community project.
We look forward to your reply
