GFX Card Problem

Post by MattNZ » Mon Oct 01, 2007 2:56 pm

Hey guys i have posted this once before but since the problem is still occuring im hoping i can have some more help.

I have recently bought a Radeon 9250 (128 PCI) and have tried installing it numerous times but keep encountering the same problem. Everytime as im about a minute from installing the drivers for the card the computer just randomly restarts itself and continues doing until i put the old card back in, im totally stuped on how to fix this.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Cheers

Well the drivers of the old card are up to date. As for the drivers on the new card they came on a disc and im guessing its the latest one for the card, but im yet to be able to install the driver as the computer just restarts itself as i start the installation.

It could be the card itself. I had the same issue with a sound card.
Machine kept re booting...even before I loaded the drivers.
Is it compatible with XP?

You should ensure you clean out the old drivers completely before installing new card, get someit like DriverCleaner to remove all traces of old drivers.

It ain't enough to remove old card via control panel etc..

I assume the card is in fact compatible with your motherboard and its settings in the BIOS....

download the latest drivers for your card off the net aswell, the drivers on the disc are not always the latest.

My old Radeon 9800pro did that, right before it died completely.
Don't let that scare you though, it could just be a driver thing.
