ASDL Modem/Router Recommendation
I've been having lots of "Lost Connection" problems playing rFactor. In my reading of various forums it seems that lots of people have had this problem, and it's mostly to do with dodgy Modems.
Does anyone have a recommendation of a modem they know works well, which they don't have any problems with rFactor. I currently have a DSE 7916
TIA

We had issues like that with a Linksys router - a reasonably cheap end one.
Hippy and I use a linux box now for our stuff and it never disconnects randomly from things like rfactor.
Some others will be on routers tho that work with rfactor but basicaly - don't get a cheap linksys if you get a linksys one lol

And that was . . . ME! Had a faulty router, got replaced by those nice boys at VR Concepts with another one and it has been rock solid ever since.Happy wrote:I think the 3com riven has listed is the same as what prom has, vr concepts has sold lots of these and had no problems with them (apart from one faulty one)

So what you are saying is my disconnections are due to my router and not the line.Happy wrote:I think the 3com riven has listed is the same as what prom has, vr concepts has sold lots of these and had no problems with them (apart from one faulty one)
One particular instance fixed a customers problem by replacing their linksys which was disconnecting.

Could be either. I had a lot of noise in the line (Rural line) that was causing mine to drop. Riven and Inspire helped get that fixed, all good now. I have the 3Com above as well, it's been fine.Gordy wrote:So what you are saying is my disconnections are due to my router and not the line.Happy wrote:I think the 3com riven has listed is the same as what prom has, vr concepts has sold lots of these and had no problems with them (apart from one faulty one)

I have the LINKSYS 4 port broadband firewall Router from inspire with my wireless plain with the dish not the aerial.
I have problems dropping from servers rfactor and other games. Would getting a 3com help out?

I ended up going with a nix box as my router, but a good 3com or other router should do the trick too.
