Video card to play BF2

Post by Jay » Wed Aug 17, 2005 10:54 pm

Hey I am trying to find a PCI Video card that will work with BF2. I would like to have a 256mb but will take a 128mb if I have too. I looked for the ones that BF2 recommends but none come in the PCI. Anyone have a suggestion. Thanks.

Your options for PCI are extremely limited, all the power cards are AGP or PCI-ex now the only one I found close to what your fater is the following: Leadtek nVidia Quadro FX600 256MB PCI Video Card 2xDVI only

Here in NZ its $1349 however, the rest seems to be low spec 64/128 cards.

I'm hoping you mean PCI-Express Jay?

No Riven...he does mean PCI. His MB will only support PCI, I checked into and even had a 128MB AGP that he could have, but he has no AGP slot.

I'd have to seriously reccomend a full upgrade... IMO its just not worth trying to find a PCI card that may run BF2.

Yes, if its PCI only, then the chances of the CPU and RAM being fast enough for all the physics in the game aswell as making scenes to be rendered are very poor. Highly recommend a completely new system.

Thanks for the info guys, I've found it for $700.00 but that's what I paid for my CPU! So I'm not sure I'll be keeping Battlefield 2?

It's an HP pavilion a522n
It's 2.60 GHZ, Intel Pentium 4, 1 G DDR SD Ram memory.

Is there anything else you need to know?
Cheers

D: Your f**ked i'm affraid :(

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/docu ... =c00068983
Graphics = Integrated
Expansion Slots = Two PCI

You'll need to get either a new HP, or take the good bits out of it, and get a real PC case, and mobo.

My 2 sense

Damn, just upgrade your Mobo... $75incl
http://www.starlyte.co.nz/product_info. ... f13ed4d1b7

and get a AGP 6600GT for $260incl
http://www.xpcomputers.co.nz/product_in ... 38e2ed44b3

You'll be able to play BF2 on that setup and for just $335incl

Everything will go in, CPU, HDD, RAM etc... You might have to buy a case, knowing HP they will have some random Case, that has no decent airflow.

Hope this helps... But don't waste your money on a PCI card !!!!

Major Havoc has the right idea.
You should be able to get an old Socket 478 board for around US$40
I bet video cards are even cheaper there as well.
