Private BF2 server : Sat 19th 8:30 Syd Time (10:30 NZ)

Post by rob_c » Tue Nov 15, 2005 8:17 pm

Howdy.

I've mentioned before that some Aussies that I race with in ATR (Austeam Racing) are interested in BF2 as well.

We've had a few sessions lately, and this Saturday we'd like to try and get a big group together for some fun.

We are all of varying experience . . . from noobz like me, to guys who have spent many, many hours playing.

The server will be passworded, and it won't be Aus vs NZ . . . it's just aimed at guys who want to have a session with like-minded players.

Please contact me via PM or email if you are interested . . . and hopefully it might become a regular thing . . . on either Friday or Saturday.

The only problem is the huge time difference we have to deal with :-

10:30 in NZ = 8:30 in Syd = 5:30 in Perth.

Anyway . . . the offer is there if anyone wants to take it up. :D

Sorry. Mattly : I didn't check back in the forum on Saturday night, so I missed your post.

We had some ATR, AOR and a few of you guys come . . . not a BIG turnout, but it was fun.

How was your connection (the server is in Perth) ? . . . and did you enjoy it ? . . . would you consider doing it again if we could get bigger numbers ?

Were you guys using your NZ Ventrillo ?

We all need to work on our communications. :)

well of all the people that said they'd turn up, only myself ans Bold did D:

Pretty piss poor effort on the part of the kiwis really.

I did enjoy myself, being top scorer and all :D

The server performance was good, and the lag wasnt really noticeable.

I'd be keen for more.

Yeah lag was good from here :)

Riven and I were on our Ventrilo server, trying to get a little teamwork going.

If you can get a few more people I'd be keen for more as long as I'm not busy.

Just a shame the server isn't ranked, as I got some good scores :)

Good to hear that your connections were good and that you had fun.

Well . . . Gav has said that he's ok making the server available as an invitational thing again . . . just a matter of getting more people interested to make it worthwhile . . . and with the 5 hour time difference problem, the weekend is really the only time we can do this . . . unless you guys REALLY wanna start playing after Midnight.

So spread the word and we'll see what happens.

What's involved with making a server ranked ? . . . I think I remember Riven saying that you have to pay for it ?

From what I recall of conversations, becoming a ranked server usually involves questionable rituals, giving up firstborn children and offering yourself up naked to powerdrills and lubricated jackhammers.

And thats the "go easy on you" version... ;)

Well at least they use lubricant. :D

I guess the other option, if you want to play on a ranked server, would be to hire one for a few hours ?
