BATTLEFIELD2 WARGAMES UPDATE R#3

Post by Mattly » Fri Jun 23, 2006 8:53 am

FIRST BATTLE RESULT

Squad A: 11 wins 7 losses
Jebus
Mikool
Riven
Bold
Wide Load
Growler
Snake Rogers
HotdogNZ

Squad B: 7 wins 11 losses
Mattly
Bazz
Biteme
Big Al
Duvel
Skuzzlebutt
Typhoon

A great round today and the scores show that Squad B was unable to make any improvement on Squad A's lead. The battles are becoming more tatical as each team has different strengths. For instance Squad A's team members seem to have a strong (odour) air wing and Squad B's strength lies in it's strong sence of humour.

BF2 WARGAMES

After several poles we can now move forward in our wargames. Sunday afternoon has been the prefered time for this competition, and I apologise now to those who wish to play but are unable to at this time. We will play standard BF2 in this first competition.

OBJECTIVES:

Two teams will be formed from a random draw and they can discuss the teams name (i.e Delta, Rangers, Airbourne, Jihadists etc) after the selection process has been completed.

Three maps will be played with two attempts at each map. Teams will change sides each map so both sides both attack and defend.

Individual scores will be noted and this will decide your rank within your team. Top Ranker in each team is your general and he is in charge of organising his team.

We will play this over 4 weeks with 1 point awarded for each map victory.

DATE & TIME

25th June Start
Sundays at 3pm. Expect to finish around 5-5.30pm. We will start almost immediately and you may only join late if you have already signed up for a team.

SERVER 203.114.130.9

Hopefully we can have the Inspire Server for the competition, but in the event of any issues I will host. Make sure you get on teamspeak. I will ask Inspector to create two channels within the BF2 channel so squads can talk strategy effectively.

FINAL ADVICE

Learn to use you A.I effectively. Form squads and invite them in. Then when you set objectives they will assist you. Always have a commander as they will be essential for success. Your support in helping keep track of scores etc would be appreciated.

Due to wanting to get on with the competition and the fact that we all like differnet maps I was thinking we would just get a random selection rather than having a long winded discussion (arguement) over the virtues of particular maps. Personnally I like them all. _b

Speaking from experience, you may wish to rethink the thing about ranks "highest score = general" etc.
To keep my clan running we have basically three or four "team leaders" who manage the team, games and tatics, and the best leader is most defintely not always the top scorers.... infact hardly ever - those top scorers are the people with a smooth running pc and plenty of aim.
We have sometimes 10 to 16 people in ventrillo and a program called ATC (advanced tatical centre) refining the tatics sometimes and some of the low scorers are the best leaders/tatitions are they are sitting back thinking instead of charging and dieing (like me for example, run, spam, die!)

I haven't been watching the BF2 section, so didn't know anything about these new features in the latest patch.

I'm assuming that you have to have the 1st expansion add-on to be able to play ?

And over here, Pizza Hut have a promotion where for $35 you get their normal 2-pizza meal deal, plus a copy of BF2 or Sims2 (plus University) or Need For Speed Most Wanted . . . maybe you guys have it there too ?

Mattly what kinda of settings do you wnat on the server?

FF full on, or Mine/Claymore FF off only etc?

currently the Bots are at 80% difficulty.

16 Humans can connect on top of the 16 Bots that are enabled..

Do you want the Bots numbers to be even on each side?

Do you want the maps to be set to the conquest ticket system, or that plus a timelimit imposed aswell.
Also the maps are the 16 player size, so the ticket numbers are fairly small, would you prefer these to be raised?

many questions :)

I'll slap some rendom maps in there just before 3pm and restart the server for maximum stability (1.3 BF2 Linux isnt that flash)

All updated and ready to go.
Is there going to be a password on the server? If so what will it be?

Thanks for helping Riv. _b

FF for claymore and minds only
Set A.I at 90% or they will be cannon fodder only
Even sides will be required.
No time limits please.
Set conquest style
Ticket numbers are a unknown so set at 200 and lets see what happens.

Don't know if you noticed or not but I actually disco'd three times thanks to my silly PC deciding to shut itself down when things got too hard for it. :ffs:

Still, I enjoyed the killin while I was there...even if old man mattly did pitch a fit at us "non-signer-uppers" :D
