P.S. Flatout 2 only $10 at Gamesman, my son picked up a copy from Sylvia Park branch in the weekend.

Re: A New Flatout Game: Ultimate Carnage
Well I'm downloading my copy now. 3.12gig which is coming down at only 33kb/sec so it could be a day or two before I get to play. I guess their servers are getting hammered at the moment hence the slow speeds.
I have to say I'm pretty dissapointed to find out that the PC version is simply a straight port of the xbox 360 and under system requirements they state:
Please Note: Steering Wheels are not supported with Flatout Ultimate Carnage
From what I have read from others who already have it that you can't use your wheel as they are not recognised and so you have to set your controls to keyboard or gamepad etc. Once I have it downloaded I'll post up some screenshots and feedback.

Is it much different to Flatout 2? Haven't played ultimate carnage, thought it was nearly the same game as flatout 2 just with hd graphics..?
keen for some Flatout 2 racing if a night was organised for it..(or the new game if its worth getting)

Re: A New Flatout Game: Ultimate Carnage
I have installed it but have yet to play much but so far.......
Once installed after more than two days of downloading it crashed
After some diagnosis I discovered that some thing called xlive needed to be installed. It doesn't tell you this in the readme or anywhere else
So I sort that out and get it going. First thing it does is makes you create a Profile with xlive on the microsoft site, and although you don't need it to play offline it still pops up all sorts of annoying shit till you do, so I just cancelled it all and played as "Player". I'll sort the profile out tonight.
So off to controllers. I have the choice of a keyboard or gamepad, nothing else. If I depress a pedal on my wheel it moves up and down the menu so it knows the wheel is there but won't let me set anything on the wheel or pedals to controls. After a bit of swearing I get a brain wave and unplug my gamepad and restart the game, hello there is the G25 and all controls can be set to it. Either it recognises a limited amount of controllers or one overides the other.
So in for a quick blast before taking the kids to see Batman last night. The car selection and 2 tracks for the first round were exactly the same with some scenery changes to the tracks and better sounds from the truck I bought but the graphics were simply "beautiful"
That was all I had time for before heading off to the movies but I will spend some more time when I can and post so more. Because I liked Flatout 2 so much I'm sure I'll enjoy this souped up version but some may find the extra eye candy not enough to warrant buying it. I am hoping that there is more tracks etc further through the career and obviously racing against 11 cars (single player only) instead of the 7 in FO2 will make for some more excitement but we shall see.

Maybe I'm just a bad person, but I only ever played Flatout2 via the keyboard
But as you say, if it's just the extra eye candy, I'll be sticking with my current one. Nothing like having school bus races to bring out the kid in us all !

Although this is getting mixed reviews on the PC front - it is on sale at Mighty Ape for $20 http://www.mightyape.co.nz/product/PC-G ... e/1565228/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - although to get free shipping you need to spend another $30. Not sure what the cost of shipping just that game is....yet....
