Post by Bull » Sat May 14, 2011 4:32 pm

Dunno if anyones looking at buying it, but I will no doubt be picking it up. Had quite a lot of fun in the Multiplayer side of DiRT 2 so hopefully if a few people here grab it we could get another rally going _b

Its only $39.99 on Steam (USD), works out to around 60$ NZD, plus the bandwidth needed to download it

Wish my PC would handle it as I would get it straight away as it looks really good. Looks as though I'll be getting the PS3 version instead. :(

I personally think it is a great combination between Sim & arcade - its easy to pick up and go, tracks are a bit more forgiving then RBR, but you still need to have good car control and consistency to get a good time and the car does relatively feel like a car .... Almost on par with GT5 for driving physics tbh (I considered GT5 a Hardcore Arcade game though :larf: )

Multiplayer is great Steve - its a lot more challenging then the SP and a great experience

It took me about 5 hours to install! I have it installed finally but need to sort out Windows Live before I can jump on. Should be around tonight though.

Anyone having problems with the graphics in this game?
I have reinstalled the game twice and still have the same issues.
The hardware is more than capable of running it but at the moment it is crap.
It seems others are having the same issues too. Below is exactly what I'm getting.

Graphics card drivers are up to date. How would I check if I have a directx issue?
I have changed a line in the hardware settings to force it to run dx9 but that didn't help.

There will be a Dx setup install on the disk but this should have installed the appropriate drivers while installing the game .. You can also find them at the microsoft download page.. But from your video it looks like The Graphics card may be having an issue with the game .. If you have An AMD system may i suggest running AMD fusion as this disables all the Garbage that steals all the resources for stuff we dont use.. I have a resonably over powered pc and i find i still require this program to run games efficiantly..

Ps hole burning is generally due to faulty ram on the card...

The card is about 6 months old and is a GTX460 overclocked edition.

Wear your sunglasses when racing :larf:

Have you checked the nVidia forums as well? Quite often Ive found fixes for games or workarounds on the ATI Site for my card.

Also took a video of the "Gymkhana" race mode on DiRT 3. Its a bit wanky like the real thing but is a blast stringing "Tricks" together and getting good scores etc
