I think its not going to be so bad Riven (have done the heavy reading regarding the unified pipeline architecture?)
Although I guess it goes without saying that dev's are going to take a long while before really being proficient with DX10 + the whole having to cross-code for all us plebs still with dx9 gear!
I can already imagine some of the awesome stuff thats going to come out of using geometry shaders... not to mention the physics shaders

We'd never do such a thing....actually who am I kiddingMattly wrote:Cons: If the products faulty you guys are going to laugh and laugh and laugh........sigh
Stay tuned.
Lots of assurances today from manufacturers that the cards that had the wrong resistor fitted were ALL recalled and replaced with good to go cards...so your shiny PINK??? (think Snake needs one of these to match his dresses) card should kick arse
Resisting at the moment after reading some of the reviews is becoming a REAL challenge...even at high res these things are just smoking along....CoH at 2560x1600 with 2X AA/16X AF and maximum in-game settings...frame rates dipped into the high 30's occasionally....WTF

It's Purple, not pink.
But seriously if you are interested in how this card performs and you want to see what it's like with a system with a E66000 CPU then this site seems to offer a very comprehensive insight.

Other than Sparkle the rest of the brand 8800GTX's are averaging 47db. This is 2db above a stock 7900GTX according this article.

I'm not clued up on db noise levels, but isnt eash db twice the previous one? That'd make it 4x louder than the 7900GTX?Mattly wrote:Other than Sparkle the rest of the brand 8800GTX's are averaging 47db. This is 2db above a stock 7900GTX according this article.

From what I've been reading on the various forums when the card is in 2D mode its virtually silent with the fan spinning around 1000rpm....when it kicks into 3D mode its audable but not really that loud....people switching from 7950's etc to the 8800 have said that they can barely hear the 8800 compared with the 7950's etc (and anyway when your in 3D mode the volume should be cranked to enjoy the game anyway hehe)

mmm Shiny Asus
and god damn thats a huge card
Many thanks to Matt from VR who surprised me with a visit at 9pm with a new card....spot of service
Fired up FSX and think I'll have to do some tweaking there as the frames seem very similar to the 7800...WoW on the other hand, maxed it out on settings at 1920 and its just sitting at max frames of 62....solid as a rock...very happy
Trying to nab a 30" Dell from work for the weekend to give it a real stress run

Generally it's the good brands that are hardest to get. Ones with 3 year warranties, forward replacements, etc.... A few brands around are quite plentiful like MSI etc...Bold wrote:Haha, must have chosen a crap brand, or supplier..Mattly wrote:Card is delayed sigh ... as if i'm surprised. few quick tests (all at 1920x1200)
FSX - seems to have hit the CPU limit (X2 4200+ running game at 25-30fps)
CounterStrike Source - everthing maxed out, never drops below 100fps (saw 300 at one point lol)
UT2004 - everything maxed, runs like glass (forgot what the fps command was)
Company of Heroes - everything maxed, perf test 40fps min, 65fps av 126fps max
